B1G CCG: THE Ohio State University vs NW’ern: Sat, Dec. 19 in Indianapolis, Noon on Fox

I guess everyone is figuring out that for the most part if you poke tOSU ... its fan base will come to the rescue with clicks so you can pay your bills... tOSU fan base = economic stimulus
Cowherd figured that out over a decade ago. He even mentioned it on the air. I know it was over a decade ago, bc it's been at least that since I used to listen to ESPN.

Yeah, definitely not everyone.

So, my favorite complaint from the IU got screwed over set is that the rules got changed mid season (or late or end or whatever)

There's actually an IU message board (I didn't know that either!) and that seems to be their chief complaint.

Even in this article:

In what world do sports conferences change the rules, midseason, to allow one team to leapfrog another?

Now, what this all implies is... there was wisdom and genius of Kevin Warren and the rest of the AD's at the (stupidly) late start of the B1G season...

Further it implies that somehow, mighty and powerful forces in Bloomington were actually at hard at work running millions of 4-D chess scenarios, so they could maximize the single season rule change and foresaw that the most likely path to the B1G championship game was to 1. Lose to Ohio State (but "barely) and 2. Have their star QB tear his ACL...

.... and now, having achieved their evil designs, the rug is being pulled out from under them as if never having the rule would have somehow altered their brilliant calculus.

You complain about rule changing when you're playing poker and you beat 4 - 2's Ace high with a straight flush, and the guy with the 4-2's then decides deuces are wild.

https://indiana.forums.rivals.com/threads/injustice.204080/

Injustice is when there is not an equal application of an agreed upon set of rules. The Hoosiers have just experienced that event. When these rules were put in place the concern was a 4-0 IU team (or similar program) that would have avoided Michigan, PSU, and O$U and would be in the Championship game instead of a 5-1 or 6-1 O$U that lost to Penn State (or dropped a similar game). Now that the tables have been turned they changed the rules. This is like playing a board game where one side wants to change the rules because they are losing. We have all experienced that event (that person changes the rules would be a spoiled brat).

Welcome to the game of Life [whatever a] Hoosier [is]

One thing on this whole "almost forced overtime" thing I've seen a couple times now: they never crossed the 50 once they got within 7 at the end. They weren't even close enough to do a hail mary into the endzone so they had to perform the Chinese fire drill lateral play.

That isn't exactly a goal line stand away from overtime kind of thing. It's more of a "we tacked on enough late to make it look a hell of a lot closer than it was" kind of thing.

The thing that amuses me most about Indiana’s butt-hurt is that Indiana has canceled as many games as Ohio State has due to COVID. The only difference is that the Buckeyes also had two opponents cancel the games.

A stupid rule was about to back door them in over a team they lost to. And because the stupid rule was repealed, they’re getting a fat check for the conference’s involvement in the cfp.

Instead of whining like a bitch, how about you say thank you, take the check, and stfu

You know, I would really like to see NW play the Who?siers in the B1G's second-place game.
They have given new meaning to the term "mentally deranged."
They are fast becoming more obnoxious than the "we-used-to-be" crowd to our east.

I'll let them have their cinderella 2nd place East Division season without too much ridicule. They were so close to a gift-wrapped B1G CG they could taste it..... just to have the rug pulled out from under them by the B1G and a stupid rule. It only happens once or twice in like 70 years that they have a chance to revel in their success so I will cut them some slack (for now). We'll see if it continues next year.... and then I reserve the right to change my mind.....lol

Agree for the most part

I’m sure most Hoosier fans, to the extent that they care, are relatively reasonable. What I find amusing are the lunatic fringe who think they were robbed of something they earned.

My one, minor, quibble with your post is the part that says, “...to have the rug pulled out from under them by the B1G and a stupid rule...” It was not the stupid rule that pulled the rug out from under them. The stupid rule is what put the rug there in the first place. The repeal of the rule pulled the rug. If they had hopes and dreams on that rug... I get it, it’s disappointing. Let’s just not pretend that the rug was anything but stupid in the first place. (And most of them are not engaging in any such pretense)

The play was hilarious at the time but if Indiana really wants to start splitting hairs...

Ohio State opens as a 20-point favorite over Northwestern in the Dec. 19 showdown, with the game total set at 59.5, on Betonline.ag.

Just sayin': It basically calculates out to a 40-20 Buckeye win......8D
