It's hard to judge Hazell, Wilson, or Beckman imo.
But I see some potential at least with the first two. Don't see anything at all with Beckman.
Wilson would've gone bowling this year if not for losing their starter, and the 2nd and 3rd guys jumping ship in the Summer.
Hazell finally found a half decent QB halfway through his 2nd year and they started looking better.

But succeeding at any of those 3 is like asking for a miracle at this point.
People could arguably add Northwestern to that list.

Ferentz should be gone. On the whole of his career, I could agree with 6... but right now he's finished. That program is going the way of the 3 aforementioned under his watch.
I'm not impressed with Flood, but his record is respectable at Rutgers. Better than Edsall, Riley, Chryst, and Ferentz in the same time period - better overall record, better conference record, more bowl appearances, and same number of bowl wins with Riley&Chryst (1 each.)

I was looking for something else and came across this gem.

Does anyone still think Hairball is the second best HC in the B10?

I can never get him over 4th.

Urban
Dantonio
Franklin

After that no one has done much. You do realize that it has been 5000 days since SCum has won a B10 title. He has poached someone else QB so lets see if he can do something this year.

He called a timeout to ice the kicker while pitching a shutout against the Sisters of the Poor or some crappy team. Mike Francesca has arguably the greatest rant of all time about it.

I didn't mind that he called that time-out. In fact, I would WANT my coach to do that. But at least come out and say why you did it. "Our kids played a great game and I was hoping to preserve the shut-out." That whole garbage about "I wanted to make sure we knew who should be on the field for that play" was a lie so people wouldn't think he's the bad guy.

Kinda like Bert going for 2 when he was at Wisconsin and beating Minnesota something like 42-12. "My card says I should go for 2!" Eat a turd, Bert. If you're a Div-1 football coach (FBS or FCS) and you can't make your own decisions on when to go for 2, then you shouldn't be a head coach. Come out and say that you wanted to score 2 more points on your opponents so that they'd be forced to see another scoring celebration by your team. Say you went for 2 because they wouldn't let you go for 3. Say you're giving some reps to some back-ups. Don't say your card told you what to do.

And it should pretty much close the door on silly suggestions that he's not a good coach. Obviously for some people it doesn't.
Oh, passive aggressiveness. Neat.

Obviously if you take it out of the context and turn it into just the threshold of being a "good coach". You have to be good at coaching football to coach at D1. But he's not anywhere near Dantonio or Harbaugh, let alone Urban. I don't give a shit if he piled up wins against teams even shittier than Vandy at Vandy.

I think a good coach can take 2nd tier programs and make them good (Franklin at Vandy).
A good great coach can take a team in a top 5 conference and elevate them (Dantonio)

Outside of Alabama, any program that would hire Urban Meyer would be considered upgrading the coaching/program/success.

Franklin is not at a Dantonio level. Franklin is Fitz at a better program.

I have often wondered how good Dantonio could take a team if he had OSU recruiting power or SCum recruiting power. Or is he a guy who can only thrive with the 3 star types and challenge them and make them into players?

He obviously knows how to develop QB's and runs a Pro style offense that translates well for his players into the NFL. But when he brought in a bunch of high level recruits it all went South in a hurry. Maybe he brought in too many fringe character guys. It does seem to make one wonder.

If the B10 loses Urban it is really in trouble. Who would OSU bring in? Winning isn't easy. Just look at SCum and all the talent that can't win a big game. Coaching is key.

I hate SCum but they had 8 defensive players drafted in 2017.

No one in the B10 touches OSU but SCum are second all time in B10 just ahead of Neb and PSU

The point is that program recruits itself but if they don't get their shite together and quickly that is going to end. It has been 5000 days since they won the B10. So anyone under 14 years old has never seen SCum win anything.

SCum is 1-9 over last 10 years against OSU and 2-8 against MSU. I mean how much longer before the brand begins to diminish. Who has a better program right now or last 10 years SCum or ND?

Khakipants is a fraud and overvalued. If he cant win by stealing one of the top QBs in college football then he is done.
