Baltimore Orioles (3x World Series Champions)

So this has been a weird year...

They're better than I thought they were going to be. While they aren't good, they aren't historically bad either. I was expecting a 40 win team.

Anyway - a few weeks ago, they became the first team to ever win back to back games 13-0. Last night, the first position player to ever record a save happened...

MLB Betting: Underdog Orioles' Win vs. Astros 1 of the Biggest Upsets in 15 Years

Coming off a 23-2 win over the Baltimore Orioles on Saturday, the Houston Astros were understandably heavy favorites Sunday.

The Orioles scored three runs in the ninth inning to win 8-7, leading to some sizable payouts to bettors.

According to ESPN's David Purdum, Baltimore owned a +420 moneyline, with Houston a -460 favorite at some sportsbooks in the United States. Using a Bet Labs database that tracks betting odds since 2005, the Orioles were one of the biggest betting underdogs to pick up a victory.

Orioles' Trey Mancini has malignant tumor removed from colon

The Baltimore Orioles announced Wednesday that outfielder Trey Mancini underwent successful surgery to remove a malignant tumor from his colon.

The tumor was discovered last week during a colonoscopy.

Lab results and the timetable for Mancini's recovery will not be known until next week.

"The outpouring of love and support I have received has made an extremely tough week so much better," Mancini said in a statement. "I have the best family, friends, fans, and teammates imaginable. I am also eternally thankful for the Orioles front office, our athletic trainers, and the entire medical staff for everything they have done to help me during this time. Finally, I would like to thank everyone for their prayers and kind words, which have furthered my excitement to get back to playing the game I love."

On Saturday, the Orioles announced Mancini had left the team to undergo what it called a "non-baseball medical procedure."

Can you name them?

Brooks Robinson 16, Mark Belanger 7, Bobby Grich 4, Paul Blair 8

I only caught the end of that era (first Orioles memories are vague memories of games at Memorial Stadium in 1986)....it's never going to happen again either. Not only does the economics of baseball mean guys with talent come up and leave, but the ownership is more interested in spending money like idiots on guys who hit .187 rather than locking up their potential superstars long term early on while pocketing the TV money.
