Van Halen (just don't ask me which time)
Toad the Wet Sprocket (back together)
Gin Blossoms (fired their best song writer Doug Hopkins who subsequently committed suicide. -Talk about your bad break ups)

Greatest break-up: Uncle Tupelo produced Wilco and Son Volt both quality bands in their own right.

Since I don't think we are talking about Death as a reason for break-up, I am going to go with Pantera. The Beatles should be on everyone's list. That fucking Yoko. If Death is included I am going to say:
