Game Thread BCS National Championship Game: tOSU 24, LSU 38 (final)

Big games like this have big momentum swings. That's what we saw.
Robo holds on to that TD and we go into half 17-17 and feeling good.
The drop, then the block just killed this times confidence and momentum.
It was over at that point.
We come out the second half and screw up with a penalty after we stopped them. Very tough for our guys at that point.
The immaturity showed in various ways that killed confidence and our momentum.
Bottom line, we were a year early to the Big Dance and it cost us this game.
We will be back! Just think how that will drive the national media crazy!

Indeed I was dissapointed about the turnout. Not to get up on a soapbox here, but how many of us took the day of the game off? The day after, planning to celebrate? How many of us took a week off work to go to NOLA, to support the team (and yes, party our you know what's off)? I'm just saying for all these kids give us, and how they make us proud on and off the field, it would've been nice for more than the number of buckeyes who happened to be at the airport at that moment to have shown up to congratulate them on a great season and thank them for all they have done! End of rant...

:oh:

I have a couple of quick thoughts.

First, Robo didn't drop the pass. As a picture showed in an earlier thread, the defensive back popped it out. Whether he bobbled it or whatever, he didn't bring it down finally because of a good defensive play.

Second, to the victor go the spoils. Fans rarely turn out to celebrate the return of a team that fails to meet its expectations and Ohio State fans have unrealistic expectations.

This team doesn't owe anyone an apology. They had a great year. We can all be proud of them.

I'm anxious to see how they do next year.

all right. everything has been beaten to death enough.

we need to get over it and put this thing to bed. winter conditioning starts in a couple weeks, and the basketball season is heating up.

it's time for this thread to go into the reference locker.

Do you honestly believe that? Beanie could have ran all day long, and had a couple fantastic gains, but the pass blocking was non existant.

Which is why Boeckman had time to look 4 and 5 reads into his progression right???? :roll1:

It didn't help matters that TB wanted to write a novel while he was standing there..or before he would take off for a 1 yard scamper There is a reason receivers were never open. There is a reason TB wouldn't throw the ball. Just like TS didn't a few years ago against florida...
You just contradicted yourself (again) within one paragraph. Either the O-line wasn't blocking well enough to get the passes off or Todd was holding onto the ball too long....make up my mind here....

And Troy had issues LAST YEAR, not "a few years ago"......

Two years ago they could match up with anyone in the country and their offensive line was humiliated in a national title game as well if you remember correctly by a team that didn't appear to be playing on the same level as OSU.
:smash: Just stop......

If OSU's defense would have performed like LSU's then we would have never stopped hearing how this could be the best defense in OSU history..It's just different when it's the other team..Stats are overlooked and excuses are made.
You mean like making excuses for obvious and admitted Roiders???

LSU had more depth and more talent overall this year, and were better coached. That's how teams win..OSU didn't "give" that game away. LSU took it from them. There is a difference. It was apparent when OSU's defense couldn't contain anyone on LSU's offense. Were we watching the same game?
Horseshit. Ohio State gave the game away with stupid penalties, turnovers and a major screw up (although with the right intent) in special teams.

Were we watching the same game?
I could ask you the same thing.....

Then let's end it with the bolded text above. I could not agree more with this statement.

I have to chime in on the SEC chant thing.

People can say it's a "conference pride" thing all they want. This is crap.

What it is is yet another replay of the Civil War/"War of Northern Aggression" tension, a variation on "cornpone, grits and chitlins beats the hell out of Yankee potroast, y'all". Likewise for the whole "those nawthawn boys is slowww" trope. As well as "those nawthawn boys is mean and unfriendly".

Hide an unpleasant putdown behind hospitality and a drawl and it doesn't make it right, fellas.

There's my two cents.

I'm pretty sure the entire "we eat grits (which act like spinach does for Popeye) and you DON'T" thing makes a convenient excuse for some people to simply avoid hard things, like actual thought and analysis.

But for a couple of plays and some major mistakes, OSU could have easily won that game. And that's a fact, unpleasant though it may be for some.

I support to the death your right to make uneducated guesses about the SEC chant thingy:tongue2:.

I mean, the fact that we use it when playing fellow Stars and Bars state teams like FSU and most ACC teams seems to negate that Second War Between The States opinion.

And really, if you think that "S-E-C" is an "unpleasent putdown" you need to get out more and thicken up that epidermal layer some.

We have intense Conference pride. Nothing more complex that that. You just don't get it, and never will.

Oh, I get it just fine. And if my getting it gets under the skin of the conference supremacist crowd, then that is also fine by me.
