Beatles or Elvis?

Wasn't it Pulp Fiction where they were talking about how someone is either a Beatles person or an Elvis person? I have to go with The Beatles. Besides singing they could play instruments, they were great composers and arrangers. Elvis sang, screwed underaged girls and got fat. He kind of strummed a guitar, not sure if he actually played. I liked a few of his songs but to me he was just a 1950's Justin Bieber.

The Beatles did a song called "Big Country" that was pretty popular back in the mid 80s. It was on their Album "Big Country" In fact, they were so huge a semi-notable basketball player called himself "Big Country" for a little bit.

Elvis had a better known brother who starred in hundreds (thousands?) of adult films. Enos Presley. He was known, I'm told, as "Enos the penis" owing to his unusually aggressive thrusting.

I loved the Beatles Black Album.

It was so indie and hip that only five people ever listened to it. Paul's brilliant "I Bludgeoned Yoko's stinking face to Death with a Bat while She Screamed and I laughed" should have been the single.

Reminds me a lot of "Blackbird" in tempo and style.

The Pulp Fiction scene with the Beatles or Elvis discussion was not in the theatrical release. It is mentioned in the director's commentary of some videos, but I can't be sure if I've seen the actual clip. I do know that it takes place between Mia and Vincent (perhaps in the Jackrabbit Slim's parking lot).

I agree with DubC in this case. The Beatles wrote the majority of the songs they recorded, and they stayed ahead of the pack in defining the sound of rock music in the 60's. But, The Beatles idolized Elvis, so who knows? Elvis was an incredibly charismatic performer, but I put more emphasis on songwriting. Just imagine how things could have worked out if Carl Perkins hadn't almost died in a car accident just after both versions of Blue Suede Shoes were released.
