i would like to thank all of the fans for how they acted this weekend. i was not able to be everywhere or see everything, but from nearly everything i saw people demonstrated the best fans in the land. i saw only a handful of bad apples while i saw thousands upon thousands of loud, polite, intense fans cheering their team on in a classy manner. i talked to a bunch of michigan fans and no one had anything bad to say.

long story short thank you students, faculty, staff, players, fans, random non affliated people for the manner in which you all acted. this weekend you proved that here at the ohio state university we have the best damn fans in the land.

I had to watch from the couch... all I can say is that the fans of both teams were certainly in to this one. The noise was sooooo loud that there were times when Musberger and friends were all but drowned out.

I talked to about 10 U of M fans on Lane after the game. All of them were very complinentary. One guy said we had very classy fans and that he would come back to CBus anyday to see a game. It made me very proud to be a Buckeye.

I spoke to a number of Michiganders as well, and all were complimentary. Buckeye fans outside and inside the stadium showed real class. Singing Carmen Ohio with the mass of scarlet and gray on the field at the end of the game is something I'll never forget. It was just about the most perfect setting you can imagine in this storied rivalry.

The few scUM fans in our section (30A) were treated nicely by everyone too. And all of their fans we saw outside the Shoe were not subject to anything more than some good natured razzing. If any of their fans were abused, it was certainly the exception!

Most OSU fans seemed indifferent about the michigan fans before the game. Very little interaction with them at all. Most just ignored them. Definitely saw no violence (can't say that about past games I'd attended in both Cbus and AA).

Had to laugh- bought an Ann Arbor paper today and they had a full article just on the "harassment" problems.... bla bla bla bla....

and the article was VERY funny when, in trying to explain to Ann Arbor readers how wild and rowdy the street party scene was, the writer said it was "almost like the Ann Arbor Art Fair".

HA! I've been to the Art Fair and it's about as exciting as the Delaware County Fair!!

Of course, their writers reported that there were a lot of slurs based on the UM fans sexual orientation.....

Just proves that if you go looking for a story you will eventually find someone to say what you want them to say...

Won't copy & paste from the MZone, but these guys weren't thrilled with their experience.

Is it true or not? I don't know. I guess I would tend to agree with their perception. I know that a lot of OSU fans can be more anti-Michigan than they are pro-OSU, and I'm sure there were plenty of "Fuck Michigans" being shouted towards UM fans directions.

If that's as bad as things got, then fine -- things aren't as bad as people would make you believe, but there is still no excuse. That culture has to change. There is no reason for anyone to verbally assault another teams' fans, even if they are from that school up north.

I agree that the culture has to change but I think these guys are making a meal out of a few guys flipping them off.

I prefer to let the Buckeyes do the talking on the field but it's not like these guys were running for their lives. :roll1:

I'm with you, Fan behavior isn't good. I get embarassed by the T shirts and the language. We don't have to "like' them. We don't have to enjoy their company even. We should engage in good sportsmanship and civility. Everyone who goes to a game at the "shoe" just wants to enjoy a hard fought well played game with their team winning. When did we get so bad as to resort to name calling rather than supporting our team. In the stadium has been better in recent years, but after the game outside hasn't.
This does need to change.
:oh:
