Sometimes lucid, mostly confused
I did some work to get organized for Sept when the beautiful game returns. I may have missed a few, but I tried to identify the key games that will give us the 4 playoff teams. Contenders going on the road is something I think is important to deciding what is a "key" game, and, of course, games that look like they will shape division/conference champions.

Which weekend do you think is best? I'm looking at the first weekend and the last 2 weekends in Nov. Please offer additions/subtractions.

What teams do you like outside of tOSU? I'm guessing OSUK just created the thread looking at possibly good games for this fall. By that standard there's some good rivalries or match-ups Oct 15-17

UCLA @Stanford - UCLA is rising while Stanford seems to be regressing. Should be interesting to see if the Cardinal still has enough in the tank or if Shaw will end up on the hot seat.
Alabama @ Texas A&M - This series was pretty good while the Money Badger was at A&M. Last year...not so much, absolute beat down.
Missouri @ Georgia - Two SEC East teams that have performed pretty well the last few years.
Oregon @ Washington - I didn't follow Washington much since Petersen took over, I would be least interested in watching these two I guess. Washington hasn't beaten Oregon since 2003, and I'm not sure they're close enough to get it done this year either.
USC @ Notre Dame - Greatest intersectional rivalry in college football.
Okla @ K State - Two of the traditionally better Big 12 powerhouses going head to head.
Mich State @ ScUM - The Spartans face little brother? Yeah, I dunno.
Penn St @ Ohio State - Fuck the Pedsters, but it was an entertaining game last year despite the fact they didn't belong on the same field.

Mich State @ ScUM - It is June 9th, 2015 and scUM still Sucks.
Penn St @ Ohio State - I will watch and be mad if the game is closer than 63-17

I love CFB and watch everything/everybody. That first weekend I will watch Neverheardofyou vs. Idontgiveacrap. Later, I settle in to P5 teams. Although, I think BYU is a team to keep an eye on. They have scheduled some high profile games, and if they can win the first half, they will be a player.

I hate it, but I really do think the SEC West is clearly the best division in football. Our old buddy (read anus sphincter), Bert, is beginning to put it together, and TA&M is trying to address its defensive deficiencies. If the Miss schools maintain, LSU finds a QB, and Auburn is what it can be, along with Alabama, that is one tough row to hoe. I think the PAC South is next. However, I think the B1G East has the potential to get to the top if Dino maintains, Harbaugh is what scUM fans are praying he is, Franklin restores PSU with a full team, and teams like Rutgers and Maryland can elevate their programs.

Agree with you on UCLA and Stanford. My impressions exactly.

If A&M ever plays a lick of D, they will beat some people - maybe even Bama when they visit. Can Chavis turn it around this fast?

People don't respect Missou - and neither do I - but we probably should since they keep winning the SEC East. Georgia is the team that is elite on paper and in your mind, but plays like shit a couple times a year. "Enigmatic" is the word that comes to mind.

Oregon is a lot of flash, but less substance than we always think. Their depth is a question, and we saw that with what happened to them vs. OSU when their WR corps took a big hit with injuries and suspensions. I believe in Chris Petersen. What he did at BSU was ridiculous. I expect him to do even better eventually at UW with better talent. Maybe the Huskies will show that this year.

USC will be back, but not sure it will be this year. And I'm not convinced Sark is an elite coach. He will give us evidence one way or the other. ND is the perenially over-rated team, but they play a good schedule, and if they win their first 6 games, they will be in the top 10, and a contender.

Oklahoma is the "OMG" team - either because they look so good, or they are so shockingly bad. I have to respect Bill Snyder. There is no reason why K State shouldn't be 1-11 every year - except that Snyder won't allow it. If the Sooners are in contention, this could be the game that sets them way back.

Sparty should destroy scUM this year, but this will give us a good indication of how Harbaugh gets his team ready for rivalry games. If scUM plays them tough, or certainly if they win, we are probably in for a war at the end of the reg season.

PSU doesn't scare me, especially in Ohio Stadium, but when you consider what they did to us last year, with an FCS roster number of players, I don't think it would be wise to under-estimate them. OSU and PSU fight for the same players, particularly in western PA. It's important for PSU to beat OSU in order to win the recruiting wars, so Urban will always get Franklin's best shot.

Starting with Week 1:

Sep 3-7

Wisc vs. Alabama: If badgers have a shot it's game 1. Bama lost almost their entire offense, but much like us last year have a ton of freshman/sophomore talent to jump in. My guess is Bama drops 2 of their first 8, and this COULD be one. Most likely a bloodbath. Bama will hit their stride in game 8 or 9 and finish the season crushing the dreams of LSU and Auburn getting to the playoffs.

L'ville vs. Auburn: Why? Really Why? Because L'ville is only 2 years removed from Bridgewater and Strong we should still care about them. At this point they are just another shitty ACC team.

Az St vs. Texas A&M: Excited to see this one. Two teams that want to fight for near the top of their conference, but I think aTm will find themselves as continual 8-9 win team post honey badger. Excitement will fall off and I don't think the coaching can keep it going.

Texas @ Notre Dame: Battle of the two worst most entitled fan bases. Please just remove this from the list, no one cares about these teams any more. Maybe in 5 years, but not now. How many yards did Texas have in their bowl game? 59 total yards, against the team that finished last in the SEC west? Frankly ND should crush them, but ND currently has a tendency to look as entitled as their fan base.

L'ville has a pulse at least. Remember Petrino at Arky? They could score points. Given this is the first game of the year, what if the Cards are really good offensively, and Auburn doesn't have their shit together? That's the why. It's not Auburn vs. a directional school, but you do have a point if L'ville is meh and Auburn is really good.

Didn't the Honey Badger play for LSU?

Texas and ND is interesting because both are blue bloods, and Strong had L'ville high in the rankings. You would think it's only a matter of time before he gets Texas there (although I'm not totally sure he is a great fit at Texas). While not Urban, Charlie is a disciple, and if he installs a similar program at UT, and they utilize the talent that is there, this might be the year where they re-emerge. It all has to do with QB play. It has to get much better. If it does, Texas can beat ND. ND is expected to be a national contender. It would be great to see those expectations take a major blow right out of the gate. Better believe I'll be watching this one - at least until ND is ahead 3 scores in the 4th qtr. :)

Yeah, I'm all in on Texas Arrogance. They win, and they go away. Domers win and start making a run at the playoffs, and the fucking subways crawl out of their closet, particularly with the Bears expected to be another clusterfuck. In the immortal words of Douglas C. Niedermeyer ('63/KIA), "let's end this now."
