Best of the Scarlet & Gray Uni's to date.

We all like the word "Scarlet & Gray" and over the years it applies most of the time, to the Buckeye
Uniforms. I go back a long ways for Buckeye history and i re-call a lot of changes .

Lately we have seen many different looks in the scheme of things for the Uni's , but I thought
maybe we could get an Idea of the best looking ones to date and some that we still liked in the past.

I watched the 2011 game with Wisconsin the other night on BTN. To me those were some of the best
uniforms and color scheme's that I have seen in a long time.

On the other hand the 2013 game with Michigan that I saw, well..................I did not care for those
at all. The all white was just too much for me. Would like to see some of your thoughts in this thread.

The best jersey is easily the Eddie George/Orlando Pace era of ginormous numbers.

And the silver pants. What has followed is less, "throw backs" with little connection to any thing authentic.

PS, Kippy, there's a whole thread on this issue somewhere in the BP virtual storage facility. The kids want to go "Oregon" and could give a shit about tradition. The geezers (Me and BB73) want to stick with the tried and true - like the Eddie George era uni.

I think a uniform can incorporate some of the "flash" of the Oregon-esque uni's that the geezers here hate and the tradition that they love. The silver metallic helmets (one's that Oregon had against Wisconsin in the Rose Bowl a few years back) could easily adapt to the traditional gray helmets with a metallic red stripe and some Buckeye leaves. Or even a matte finish looks classy to me if they keep our colors. I'm not a fan of the huge numbers myself and the super loose jerseys (aside from the practical disadvantage of defenders pulling you back and slowing you down by grabbing the loose fabric). As to the jersey itself, I do not think there is much room for improvement other than that...I love them the way they are now. Pretty much the same with the pants....only minor changes.

Now I am just saying this for one game...I like having a little variation, it is not like I want to permanently change our uniforms. And to be clear, I really have not like any of the alt uni's that have came out the past few years. The one's we wore against Wisconsin in that night game in our 6-6 season were OK, but I pretty much hated all the other's.

I was told that the Uni's in that Wisconsin game of 2011, were throw backs to the 1954 season of the Buckeyes. The uniforms we wore against Michigan game of 2013 had a lot of white and hardly no gray color at all. I didn't care for those Uni's.

Thanks for the Info Cinci-buck

Look forward to the day that those are worn as throwbacks. Those are the best, with white socks. I also really miss the grass endzone with grey lettering. Would be cool to do the endzones to match the uniforms for whatever era they are representing as long as the 'throwback procombat' stuff is apart of the season. Field turf. Blah. Screwed the pooch when the field level dropped below the water table.
