LoKyBuckeye I give up. This board is too hard to understand.

Looking to upgrade from 256mb to 512mb of RAM. Can anyone recomend a good place to buy on the net? or.... could I get the same deal by driving over to Best Buy?

Someone will probably have a better suggestion, but try zdnet's pricing guides. I found a digital camera for about 40% less than Circuit City. Not surprising; prices there are horrible.

  4. DCBuckFan

DCBuckFan Fark You is great for all computer parts online, though I almost always jsut go through since they have good (if not the best) prices and ship super fast. Some of the "affiliates" on can be shady, so look at the comments on each.

Exactly why I just stick with newegg.
I havent ever heard a bad thing about them, and I personally have not had a single bad experience with them.

Check for what's on sale in your area. Unless I'm really saving a lot, I prefer the convenience of going back to the store for returns if there are problems.

I've purchased RAM from them twice and the speed and accuracy of service as well as the ease of ordering was all I could have hoped for.

Naa newegg is good for their information on stuff, but i wouldnt order from there.

mwave is cheaper, MUCH faster shipping, and generally just easier to deal with. My company has ordered from them for years, as well as my own personal crap.

A couple of friends swear by newegg... Good service, however if you look around, you can find things cheaper at other sites... they are a standup company as far as I've heard...

Nothing wrong with Newegg, but they are more expensive than mwave, take forever to ship. I love how they say "If you pay us an extra $3, we MIGHT ship it same day". With mwave, if you order overnight, the only way you dont have it the next day, is if Fed Ex screws it up somehow. That always pissed me off about newegg.

Really... I am always surprised how fast I get stuff back from NewEgg...

either way, they both sound fine.

actually the best place to buy memory, or anything computer or electronic related, or practically ANYTHING for that matter is pricegrabber

they actually link the other places that were mentioned like newegg and tiger direct along with 100's of other online stores, with reviews of the stores and the products, i look here first for practically anything that i buy these can sort by price/rating, and you can even educate yourself a bit on the products by going here and sorting by the parameters or looking at side by side comparisons
