In a perfect world there would be 8 10 team conferences and an 8 team playoff for the title, but that will never happen. With a 16 team conference I think the best you can do is have 4 pods so you play the same 3 teams every year, 4 teams from another rotating pod and 1 rivalry game. At least that way you do get to play every other school at least every 3 years rather than the same 7 teams every year and 2 schools from the other division.

And if your rivalry game is a "traditional crappy team" you have a distinct schedule advantage.

It it does come down to the B1G, the SEC, the Big12, and the Pac being the only conferences at the table for the NC I don't think ND will have a choice but to join the B1G.

What if...it came down to 4 major conferences with 16 teams each...just wondering...what 4 additional teams would the PAC16 take?

There aren't really any for them to take, geographically. It's almost as if they have to partner with the BigXII and say, OK, you give us A, B, C and D after you grab, W, X, Y and Z.

I have no idea. It worked better when it looked like the Big12 was the one that was going to die. Texas and the 2 schools in OK work a lot better than anyone in the ACC. I'm sure the Pac 12 wouldn't want anyone that I would try to give them.

I like that idea, but then the Big12 ends up as the ACC and Texas. Too bad Texas was too dumb to jump to the Pac a few years ago and ended up fucking everything up.
