Just sayin': If each B1G team gets $35M and each PAC12 team gets $20M annually from TV revenue there is a competitive imbalance on what the school's athletic department can afford to do (unless the difference is made up elsewhere).
That;s the nature of the beast. Okie State gets T Boone Pickens. Oregon has Nike. tOSU has Wexner, B1G money, largest alumni base.

Expanding television viewership into a region that absolutely hates college football.
It's almost too perfect....

Bonus: Increase in Massholes - but not the ones that travel to big games.

Not going to happen. BC is just not the kind of University that the B1G is looking for, unless it a package with Notre Dame, which isn't happening.

As an alum of UVA Law, I'm a little disappointed. UVA should be begging to join the B1G, as the financial benefits of B1G membership could do a lot towards improving the overall financial health of the University.

I thought all those fancy courses on the interwebs were going to do that. Besides, doesn't UVA have something like a $4b endowment for a school half the size of most Big Ten universities?

This implies there are rumors afloat that are not true. Do you have a link that would confirm there are untrue rumors?

I prefer to think the B1G is actually expanding to 128 teams and the NCAA changing its name to the ICAA?

There is one fundamental difference. Our whales don't donate to athletics. We just last week received our first athletic donation for 8 figures from a guy who I've never heard of. I've lost count of how many 8 figure donations Ohio State has received overall.

Trust me, I'm not complaining. This is the way it should be.

WV Hillbilly is now reporting that the B1G is pursuing Boston College... :tinfoil:

Could be a tactical move on Delaney's part to force UVA and UNC on board sooner rather than later.

I agree with the above, that BC would be down our list unless packaged with the domers, and the domers aren't going anywhere. I don't even fucking want them anymore. They would be a complete and utter cancer within the conference.

FIFY - no way Delaney takes ND at this point... or Smurf Aggy.

We'll take the Mormons and Jesuits, but we draw the line at the Irish!

^^

I don't really think our athletic department NEEDS big time donations anyway. Money is not even close to being an issue

We can use the money. Remember, we're only a few years away from barely breaking even on all that revenue, and there is a lot of speculation that the AD only stayed in the black due to some accounting shuffling of a portion of its debt load onto the general university books. We're still paying for Geiger's building boom, and we still fund more varsity sports (all with full scholarship compliments) than comparable big revenue athletic departments.

We may be second in revenue, but ranked on profitability, we're somewhat down the list.

True, but tOSU purposefully spends the money on non-revenue sports, etc. in addition to revenue sports to field a very robust roster of olympic sports (how many schools boast national titles in fencing, pistols, gymnastics AND football in the same decade?) and to make sure its facilities, services to student-athletes are the best across the board, not just for football or men's basketball.

UVA is very dysfunctional. Don't get me started. Nobody at that school seems to know what the fuck they are doing. There is nothing I would love more than for Ohio State to beat the crap out of them every year. That said, they still would be the best add from the ACC, IMO, especially with Carolina.
