The ACC network was brand new last year, their number figures to grow over the next five years, especially if FSU and Miami continue to improve.

I don't disagree with that. But if I were the ACC, FSU is just about the last school that I would pin my hopes for growth on. They had an undeniably great 15 year run under Bowden, but that was a single-use rocket. They are not built for long term success. Facilities are a joke, not even equal to what Ohio State had before they built the WHAC. No multi-generational donor base; they have living alumni from when it was a women's college. Worst of all, the football scholarships are not fully endowed. I doubt there's a single school in either the SEC or the B1G that doesn't have the football scholarships fully endowed (may be wrong, have no intention of taking the time to look it up).

Will the ACC grow? Sure, assuming the college sports landscape doesn't change massively in the next few years (which is entirely possible). Will their share of the pie grow? Maybe. They might pass the Pac10; as the Big12 continues to step on their collective dick even they might see the ACC pass them. Neither the SEC nor the B1G are going to see the ACC anywhere but in their rear view mirror for the foreseeable future, and beyond that the world of pre-NFL football may look so different that we have no basis for discussing it.

THE B1G MOMENT: JIM TRESSEL, CRAIG KRENZEL & MICHAEL JENKINS DISCUSS “HOLY BUCKEYE” IN NEW BTN SPECIAL

One of the most memorable plays in Ohio State football history has been given documentary treatment.

BTN's The B1G Moment series launched earlier this year to celebrate iconic moments for Big Ten sports programs, going in-depth with the players involved on both sides of the ball while adding anecdotes from people who witnessed it in real time.

This Saturday night it's Ohio State's turn, and BTN chose a certain, pivotal 4th down play from the 2002 season at West Lafayette to examine from every possible angle.

Bonus - BTN cleared its programming deck for Buckeye fans tuning in on Saturday.

In the absence of a season I have been recording episodes of Buckeye Classic with the intent of watching them in chronological order starting tonight.

I have 33 episodes. Two were recorded in the 20th century. The 97 Rose Bowl, and for reasons I struggle to comprehend - the 1992 season opener against Louisville.

I watched this game tonight. Obviously not a BTN production. Rather it was from ESPN and I found what may be my first clue as to why this game was selected when on our first offensive play Kirk Herbstriet sent Joey Galloway in motion and then handed the ball to Robert Smith.

Slow news day.

I watched that replay of the 1992 Louisville game. Malibu Ken at QB. That game embodies the Cooper years, trying to find a way to lose but he just had too much talent (except at the QB position).

Having Galloway at WR was useless because every DC knew the QB couldn't get him the ball.

For those too young to remember, or those who have repressed the memories of '88-'92, Kirk Herbstriet was a godawful QB. He was Steve Bellisari 1.0.

You haven't seen anything that bad in the 21st century and yes, that includes the arm punt guy in 2011.

Put it another way, he was a worse passing QB than he is an actor and you saw him try to act with his tearful on air moment the other day so let that sink in.
