Big Ten Players Leaving Early for the Draft (Official 2008 Thread)

Kind of happy to see Manningham and Arrington gone before they could do damage to OSU. Hardy was a stud, as was Mendenhall and Ikegwuonu was good but slumped late in the season. Gholston should be a first rounder and I don't blame him for leaving because his family needs the money.
Decent class which should have 3-4 first rounders.

now fyi i have not researched at all before making this post, that being said compare the big ten's early entries to that of the SEC's (the only big name that comes to mind is mcfadden) and which group is more nfl ready/more speedy? hopefully i didn't shoot myself in the foot on this

Why do you need to know their speed vs the sec, out of curiosity?

Thomas, Manningham, King are all very fast.
Gholston, Mendenhall, Hardy all possess impressive speed/athleticism for their large size.
Arrington has good speed for a possession WR.
I don't know how Ikegwuonu tests, but he plays plenty fast.

Mendenhall, Gholston & Hardy have major potential. Arrington & Ikegwuono will be solid/decent pros. Manningham & King saw their stocks drop considerably this year. Thomas is a fine CFB wr but is similar to the types you can snag late in the draft from small schools.

Manningham had an outstanding second half of the season and was a finalist for the Biletnikoff. How is that dropping?
I think he was a little more consistent last year during the tough games, and some of the effort dropoffs may hurt him. I should clarify I think he saw his stock drop a bit, not that I've necessarily heard that.

Must have been because of his (cough, cough) pain medication. :tongue2:
