I read over on another Buckeye web site that one of the players was quoted as saying they are practicing with a two back set and two tight ends. If that means that will be the new look or not, I have no idea but who knows. I never thoughts I'd see an empty backfeild at OSU with 5 WR streaking down the field but we have under Coach Tressel.

:groove: Its great to be a Buckeye :groove:

Sdgobuck- I agree/ disagree with you......

I agree that Oky has been consistent.... IN BEING OVER RANKED, but NO team has been more over ranked than TEXAS.

as for the double Tigh and Double back set- All's I got to say is AWESOME..... I love the double tight end set along with a double back. One thing though pray to god Lydel isn't back there or we'll get f'd up really bad. but whatever the coach is doing I'm with him. I'd be sweet if JOE was back there though!

Yea Oklahoma has not been truely tested as of yet but they have the most balanced team at this point(imo) and Oregon is not as bad as they played Oklahoma. They are a pretty good team. A. Peterson for Oklahoma is one of the very best there is. I like Bush for USC but I like A. Peterson even better. So in short Oklahoma has proven more than some (so far) and oh yea they got a pretty good defense too. That makes two out of three at least doesn't it?

This is all speculation though. Why not wait til the end of the year to proclaim any one team over the other ?? My only predicion : Justin Zwick Will be proclaimed a STUD soon !!!!!!!!!! mark it down !!! haha

I think next year with our O-Line bee'n all back and all our recievers besides Bam back, as well as having a better tail back and a more experienced QB we should be in for some very good times! Esepcially since our Defense will still be better than our offense!:sick1: that guy right there symbolizes what our defense will be next year SICK. All our Linebackers are back, 3 of the 4 d-line are back. and well right now NO kids are gone in the secondary! NEXT year I think it will be our most talented team than the past 3. This year though I think with the team I got we are a big game from our Running back away from being 11-0 or 10-1. We should still do very well this year!

Hmm I agree that we haven't impressed anyone either, but lets not forget who Choklahoma has played. Lets see BGSU - who scored like 24 or 30 on them, Houston - enough said ... and Oregon - Indiana beat them, and Oregon moved the ball well on Choklahoma. With that schedule anyone worth anything should be able to look impressive. Im not saying we should be ranked higher than them, because it is too early to know, but blowing out Houston doesn't impress me. I still think USC should be #1 ... they are defending national champs so they deserve #1 until they lose. I said the same thing last year when we were dropped because of sloppy wins, and I will say it now.
Did I miss something? I'm pretty sure LSU is the defending champ, not USC. USC has been exposed twice this year, so I would NOT take them of Oklahomo. The Homo's could be over-rated, probably are, but I do feel they are in the correct ranking position at this time. What other team should be number 1? Excluding USC, of course, for the reasons already listed.

Don't bother looking for any dominant teams in the Big 10 this year, because there aren't any. Expect a lot of nailbiters all the way around. Ohio State, Michigan, Purdue, Minnesota, Iowa, maybe even Michigan St and Wisconsin -- all have a CHANCE. Having said that, it should come down to Ohio State versus Michigan. If the Buckeye rushing attack can come back from the dead, we will be hard to beat!

I personally think it will come down to OSU/Purdue game and the Minnesota/Meshitagain games. If Minnesota beats Michigan I think they can run the table. They do play at Wisky at the end of the year that may cause them problems. If we beat Purude I think thats the biggest test we have this season. Purdue is definately in the mix having Michigan and OSU at home but they always drop a game to a team they shouldn't!!!

It's gonna be interesting!!!

NOTE: I'm just exploring this because no one else has mentioned it.

Michigan lost an OOC game and all of the sudden they're terrible? Last time I checked, the road to the B10 crown runs through OSU and UM. Michigan plays everyone that's anyone in the B10, and if they get going then look out. They pick up 2 HUGE games in mid October when they play Minnesota at the Big Toilet on the 9th and then go to West Lafayette (got tickets :)) to play Purdue the 23rd. They looked impressive coming off that loss to ND, but they've got more tests than any team in the B10.

Hopefully they'll still be BCS ramifications when it comes time to play in the shoe on 11/20. Tressel's really put the life back into this rivalry.

Michigan plays @ OSU, @ Purdue, and have Minny @ home. They play IMO the top 3 teams in the B10 and two of those games are on the road. They need help on SPECIAL TEAMS, RUNNING THE BALL, and DEFENSIVE BACKFIELD GIVE UP WAY TO MANY BIG PLAYS!!!

I can see Michigan losing 4 games this year.

Don't think we could use help in the offensive backfield? Or the defensive backfield? *shrug* No one in the B10 is as solid as 2003 UM or 2003 OSU. It's the only reason I'm still considering UM. Put them in the B10 any of the past 3 or 4 years and they'll be in a lot of trouble.

Did UM see them v. Iowa? That Freshman TB looked good, and against a good defense. Their D-backfield looked better, too. They cleaned up a lot of the big plays. Granted, it wasn't against a big play offense; but that might only come into play v. Kyle Orton and Purdue. I think they actually match up exceptionally v. Minnesota and pretty well v. OSU. I don't think I'm going too far out on a limb saying that the B10 champ will have a confrence loss, and I'm just saying that UM has as good of a shot as anyone.

Plzplzplz don't make me post again, I feel dirty for talking about UM like this :)

I am not trying to be contrary but our Offense has to really come together and click before we can be the very best in our conference or at least considered in that light. When that happens we will definitely be one of the best in the conference and in all of college football.
First our O-line has to learn to communicate alot better and sustain blocks alot longer than they have to help out our lackluster running game. Second, Justin Zwick has to at least learn to recognize the different coverage defenses and to slow the game down and be patient and not try to force things. When he does that OMG he will be one of the very best.
M#chigan, Purdue,Wisconsin, Iowa, all have a chance against us IF they are having a great day and no mistakes, even though no team scares me in the Big Ten. Other teams in college (ie:Oklahoma) have shown a more balanced game than us even though OSU has shown soooo much potential. IF its realized then we can be considered the best in the conference and country.
We have one of the very very best factors though ... Coach Tressel. I'd put his smarts and talents for controling the game and coaching our kids against anyone though.
I will say this though, when our offense comes together and when our d-line matures just a tad more and stops the run a little more better, WOW we will be able to take on anyone in the Big Ten, better yet, anyone in the whole of college football.

Storm has some nice observations in this post. He is right when we let Coach Tressel control the game and lets his coaches teach the players. It all melds together. Mark May said he thinks OHio State will win the BIG10 buts its still Ugly Football. It reminds of when Bernie Kosar played for the Browns and an NBC commentator once stated. "He may not be pretty, but he gets the Job Done". Mark May knows coach Tressel is right in his game planning but Mark May is Paid to say stupid things like what he said.

brutus2002,
Hart of Tsun is alot better a RB than people give credit. There Running game is not in that bad a shape. I bet once his QB settles down they will be alot better team, especially before they play OSU. Now I do have to say I hope we kick their butts this year and every year !!!
GO BUCKEYES!!! But you have to give credit where credit is due and you have to love the best Rivalry there ever was in all of College football !!!

I very seldom speak up but I read and study what everyone has to say everyday. And one of the very critical parts of this discussion is being left out-- our youth and inexperience. I agree fully with those that say we have the talent to run the table. Our special teams are special and our defense is getting better by the week. However, our youth and inexperince WILL show itself at some critical point in the season. The question will be whether we can overcome the critical mistake. That is why I believe that we will lose a game this season. I could not predict which one it will be but my best guess will be that it comes while we are on the road. The one game that I believe we will win for sure however is against tsun. We will be focused, at home and looking for redemption after last year.
