Donovan will stay put as Florida coach

Billy Donovan, three days removed from leading Florida to a second consecutive national championship, will remain the Gators' coach and not make himself available to interview for the opening at SEC rival Kentucky.

Interesting tidbit in ESPN article:

Meanwhile, the four Florida juniors -- Joakim Noah, Al Horford, Corey Brewer and Taurean Green -- will announce at a 4 p.m. ET news conference in Gainesville whether they're remaining in school or leaving to enter the NBA draft.

They're only fucking juniors

:smash:

If Oden chooses to stay in college I'd prefer it if they stayed too. With the incoming recruiting class namely Kosta Koufos and the addition of Madsen we would have a strong rotation to match up with their bigs. Oden handled all four of them by himself, subtract one from their side and add Koufos, Madsen, and Hunter working on his game over the summer/fall and I'm confident we can take them.

Per Andy Katz at ESPN, they've told Donovan they're leaving. He's asking them to stay in school through the semester to not kill Florida on the APR.

Why would Noah go? he doesn't need they money.

He isn't going to stay if the other's go. Brewer is the one that sounded like he needed to go for the money. I just laugh that if Noah would have gone last year he would have been a top 5 pick. Now he will be much lower than that.

He would of been #1 maybe 2, but now he is going to be 6-10 probably...

Donovan has chance to build a legacy

Billy Donovan is four wins shy of 300, has a pair of national titles and is only 41. When Duke's Mike Krzyzewski was the same age, he had nearly 50 fewer victories and didn't have a single national championship to his credit.

Donovan has a chance to build a lasting legacy in Gainesville ? much like Coach K has done at Duke.
No one close to Donovan was surprised that he is staying in Gainesville. His family is comfortable, his father lives in town for much of the basketball season and Donovan has a close relationship with Florida athletic director Jeremy Foley.

Does anybody else think Donovan caught lightning in a bottle for his first title....then again when they all stayed?

Everybody is talking about him like he's a top 3 coach all time......I just think he caught the perfect combination of underrated players and a weak conference.

Why wouldnt he? The longer he stays, the more people will see he sucks (ok, not sucks, but not a #1 for damn sure) so might as well cash your chips while you still have them.

True, in the NC it was shown he had trouble with a good big man, however, how many good big men are in the NBA? Either way, those three will all make good money in the NBA.
