Are you proud that Bobby Knight is a Buckeye?

My Uncle was Bobby Knight's high school basketball coach. I find Bobby to be a man that marches to his own drum, a trait I find admirable by most. And as the previous poster stated, "Once a Buckeye, always a Buckeye."

I've had dinner with the man.. Yes he has an ego the size of Texas.. but he really does have his focus and reasons for doing what he does... He is a teacher.. and he admits to being an extremely tough one...

A player of Bobby Knight is a fundamentally sound player... He didn't get three NCs by accident... He expects no more of a player than he is willing to put forth himself... He feels a waste of talent is abysmal.. and he relishes heart.. He believes players get to the next level by someone driving him there.. without it, they'll stagnate...

BTW he is hilarious in person... extremely bright and witty... but again, an ego of the highest order... and he is VERY proud to be a Buckeye

I couldn't agree more, NJ.. and I find nothing wrong with pushing someone above and beyond what they think they are capable of.. I agree his ego is grandious but I think his sharp-tongued wit more than makes up for the ego problem, lol.

It would be a lot easier to tolerate his antics if just once, the man could admit when he was wrong or that he acted inappropriately

Just like it would be nice to see the media ,that likes to make mountains out of molehills with some of his antics, admit they were wrong or acted inappropriately. Can Knight be an ass? Yep, but I think allot of what he has is a passion that sometimes taken the wrong way be it him overstepping the bounds or the media liking to make it seem he is out of control.

All of these accomplishments are a reason to be proud he's a buckeye:

Plus he really cares about the kids he coaches. He does some things on the court that may be questionable, but he is a fierce competitor and proud of where he's from. I like the guy even more now that i think about it.

I compare Knight to Woody.

He does stuff he probably shouldn't do(And he gets in trouble for it at times), but he does it to make his players and team better.

He may act like an ass at times, but I've heard stories of Woody being the same.
