Boston-Atlanta First round series

If "ifs" and "buts" where candy and nuts...

Detroit and Boston are far from out of their series, the Lakers still have teams in front of them, so before you all start with the "LeBron owns Kobe" smack let's see how this plays out.

Detroit won't make it past Orlando and Z eats pieces of shit like Gasol for breakfast. :p (only one of those is a joke)

Well obviously, was just talking about the scenario that was presented...

There is still a long way to go...

The Cavs are 2-0 against a Gasol-less Lakers team

Is this the Cavs-Lakers thread?

On-Topic: I think what happened in the fourth quarter of Game 4 has to be very concerning for the Celtics. Garnett stepped up down low on a couple of possessions, but for the most part, the only true fourth quarter player in that game was Joe Johnson. Do the Celtics have a player that can take over at the end of a game like a Kobe, Lebron, or a Ginobli?

Paul Pierce.....just my opinion.

Celtics, Hawks escape punishment for skirmish, leaving bench

Associated Press

Updated: April 29, 2008, 7:41 PM ET

WALTHAM, Mass. -- Boston Celtics coach Doc Rivers remembers being in a couple of fights in his playing days, so he understands what was going through Kevin Garnett's mind when he pushed off from a referee who was trying to make peace.
"Right afterward, I felt like a dunce," Rivers said. "At the time, though, there was nothing in me that didn't feel like it was the right thing to do."

im wondering why Kevin Garnett hasent been suspended for game 5?

they suspended suns players last year for stepping off the bench, but KG shoves a ref and gets away with it, looks like the NBA will do everything in their power to get the Celtics and Lakers in the finals

cmon.....have they suspended anyone in the playoffs yet? The Cavs and Wizards have had several "incidents" and nothing has happened....

The commish took a ton of heat for his decisions regarding the suns and I believe has taken a step back.....if anyone needed to be suspended in the Celtics series it was the Hawks player who basically head-butted Garnett.....I say let them play at this point.

Garnett threw an official away from him that was trying to calm the situation down. If Garnett is not an elite level player and the Lakers-Celtics Finals wasn't Stern's wet dream, he'd have been suspended. Sorry, I have nothing against Garnett, it's just that the golden rule in sports has always been: Get physical with an official - wear a suit the next game(s).

Paul Pierce.....just my opinion.

He's not in the same league (4th quarter-wise) with Manu, Kobe and Lebron - and he showed it the other night.

BTW: Thanks for playing Atlanta. But if you watched the Pistons-Sixers last night, you know that the top two teams in the East can blow you out at home when they feel like it.

Well Boston took control again...Atlanta played well at times, but Boston had too much fire power...

I think that Atlanta can give Boston a game in Atlanta and could send the series to a game 7...

I hope not, I need these playoffs to end so I can see my Lakers play Sunday and not sometime next week. Cleveland, Utah, and Boston need to finish their damn series and stop milking their stadium for all the revenue they can.

NBA notebook: Celtics cruise past Hawks

Thursday, May 1, 2008 3:39 AM

From wire services

Takedowns and menacing gestures. Double technicals and flagrant fouls. And the Boston Celtics are heading to Atlanta to try to deliver the knockout punch.
Paul Pierce scored a playoff-high 22 points and Ray Allen hit three three-pointers in the middle of the third quarter last night to turn back the Hawks' last charge, leading Boston to a hard-fought 110-85 victory and giving the Celtics a 3-2 lead in the best-of-seven Eastern Conference series.
Kevin Garnett had 20 points and Allen 19.

It's funny, I was watching ESPN the other day and they had one of those prematurely congratulatory interviews with Garnett, Allen & Pierce. They were asked who gets the ball to take the game-deciding shot at the buzzer in an important game. None of them said Rajon Rondo.

When the Celtics made the move to get Allen & Garnett, I said it would be a disaster because none of these star players could ever take a team on their backs and be successful in the playoffs. Granted, it hasn't been a disaster (yet), but now look at them - they're going to a game seven as the best regular season team in the NBA - against a team that didn't even win half of its games. Win or lose on Sunday, it's clear to me that the Big Three still know plenty about winning in the regular season, and not very much at all about how to win in the playoffs.

Great game by ATL...As for the not winning half of their games comments that continue to be made...

ATL is a totally different team with Bibby running the show vs. Tyrone Lue or Anthony Johnson...

Also Joe Johnson is a gamer and has really stepped his game up...

Still think the Celtics are too talented and take this one at home in game 7...But the Hawks have made the series very interesting and they have the firepower to take the series...

BTW sometimes it is just better to be the young team with not a lot of experience and just not knowing what is really going on in terms of all the pressure, kinda like the Hawks are doing with the only guys with playoff experience being Bibby and Johnson...
