Boston Celtics (17x NBA champions)

Ok, I am not a fan of the Celtics at all, in fact I am on the other side of that fence. That being said:

If they stay healthy how many games can they win? I watched the highlights from their first games and they are just dominating. People who said KG was washed up are now eating their words in a major way, Paul Pierce is just as good as ever, and Ray Allen just looks up-stoppable. This team reminds me of the Lakers with Shaq and Kobe, they are just taking control of the court and making the best out of any mistake another team makes.

There's no question IMO that with few injuries they can win the East. How they will ultimately stack up with the West I really don't know.

Nice butt whooping of the Hawks last night though. Link

C's Remain Unbeaten

BOSTON - Kevin Garnett scored a game-high 27 and hauled in 19 rebounds as the Celtics clipped the Hawks, 106-83, Friday night at the Garden. Boston improved to 5-0 with its fourth win at home this season.

I really enjoy beating the Nets. Woo Hoo!!!!!!!!! Celts link

Only Unbeaten Team in NBA

The Celtics stand alone atop the NBA, the only remaining undefeated team, as they ripped the Nets on Saturday night, 112-101, to improve to 5-0.

Hours after attending the funeral of his father in Illinois, Rivers saw the new-look Celtics remain the NBA's only undefeated team and personally show the Nets they are the team to beat in the Atlantic Division with an impressive 112-101 win on Saturday night.

This thread is one of the more comical ones I've seen on BP in quite some time. It will be a fun one to revisit. I have absolutely no doubt that all of you who put the Celtics in the 5-seed and below range have no idea what you're talking about. They may start slow...but they'll get each other figured out.

My bad...shouldn't have even put them down for a slow start. They are flat-out good.

It already is a trainwreck - Boston fans just don't know it yet.

The Celtics just mortgaged their future on three 30+ guys that have never made the NBA Finals. (and in Allen's case, he was lucky to ever see the playoffs). Neither player even so much as led their team to the playoffs in any of the past two years.

Their point guard (Rondo) couldn't win a 3rd grade 3-point shooting contest. Their shooting guard (Allen) couldn't guard my grandmother. Their small forward (Pierce) is an injury prone ballhog who gets destroyed every time he plays against someone superior athletically (See Lebron). They have no center AND ZERO BENCH.

And now, all of a sudden, they're the best team in the East according to some commentators? :slappy:

Come off it. They might make the playoffs, and may even win their weak division. But after two years of playoff fizzles, they'll be trying to start all over again with what they have left - which is now, of course, nothing.

Danny Ainge got taken to school on this trade.

(I will quote and repost this post next May)

I will quote and repost this now.

Is it May? Are the Celtics all of a sudden Eastern Conference champions after 5 games?

The Celtics will make the playoffs. I don't, and never did, doubt that. But re-quote me then - because that's when you'll that they are who I thought they were.

Yeah, and I said they "might" even win their division. The point is that they won't win the East, and all of the optimism over a 5-0 start is slightly less presumptuous than all of the optimism over acquiring Garnett.

Remember the danger of counting your chickens based on a couple of games. Dallas started off last year 0-4 and finished with the best regular record in the league. Then they promptly laid an egg in the first round. Some teams are built for the playoffs. I'm sticking my neck out there to say that the Celtics are not one of those teams.

Now it's 6 in a row.

Read on....

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -- Paul Pierce scored 31 points, and the Boston Celtics beat the Indiana Pacers 101-86 on Tuesday night to remain unbeaten.
Pierce made 14 of 14 free throws and had 11 rebounds. Kevin Garnett added 18 points and 11 rebounds, his sixth double-double in six games, as Boston (6-0) matched its best start since the 1987-88 season. Boston still is chasing its best start, 14 straight wins to begin the 1957-58 season.
