Celtics call Miller, who is considering return to NBA

Reggie Miller says he is contemplating a return to the NBA, this time with the Boston Celtics.

Miller, who turns 42 on Aug. 24, played his entire 18-year career with the Indiana Pacers before retiring in 2005. Since his playing days ended he has worked as a television analyst for TNT.

Miller was all set to continue that job when Celtics general manager Danny Ainge and coach Doc Rivers asked him to think about joining their revamped team in a reserve role, playing about 15 minutes per game.

Miller weighing options, not revealing thoughts on return to NBA

INDIANAPOLIS -- Reggie Miller is still debating whether to make a comeback at age 42.

The NBA's career leader in 3-pointers tried to dodge reporters' questions about his possible return on Tuesday as he attended Peyton Manning's charity bowling tournament, saying he wanted to talk about the Super Bowl MVP and his event.
Eventually, though, Miller acknowledged no decision was imminent.
"I'm in shape to bowl," Miller joked. "But I don't even know what I'm going to do."

Kevin Garnett is among more than 20 NBA players working out under the Abunassar Impact Basketball system at the Tarkanian Basketball Academy, but none may be taking it more seriously. For more than a week, the 10-time All-Star has been the first player to arrive for his six-day-a-week workouts. In fact, Garnett has been starting at 7 a.m. since arriving Aug. 27, and he began an hour later yesterday only because Joe Abunassar wanted his employees to have an extra hour of sleep on the holiday.

Celtics' wild ride is just beginning

WALTHAM, Mass. ? Apparently, being a Celtic is a joy again.

Ask Kevin Garnett. He?ll talk your ear off about it.

He spent Friday lauding every aspect of his new team, including the uniforms.

?It?s good material,? he said in response to one of several ?How does it feel?? questions directed at him.

Softballs aside, Garnett, Paul Pierce and Ray Allen were all smiles as they shared the podium.

?This jersey feels much better than the last (teams?) we played for,? Allen said.

For the first time since trades brought them to Boston this summer, their union actually felt real.

?It feels good to have help,? Garnett said.

ROME - Celtics newcomer Ray Allen has already preached to his young backcourt mate Rajon Rondo about the importance of being mentally and physically ready to knock down big shots late in games. With opponents' defensive emphasis likely to be on Allen, Kevin Garnett, and Paul Pierce, the ball could end up in Rondo's hands at crucial times.
