BP Fantasy Baseball (2008-2023, Current Champion = MD Buckeye)

Had to bench a reliever tonight to get all of my starters in my line up. I chose to bench Rivero, since the Pirates had lost 13 of their last 14 games and hadn't scored a run since Sunday.

Predictably, he vultured a walk off win. On my bench.

Well, true to form, the Worthless Bastards are hitting like the Bucs do against the Reds. More specifically, they ain't fucking hitting. :ohbrother:

But if blown saves were a category I think I'd still have a shot.

And there's another blown save. Unreal. :slappy:

First blown save of the season for Davis. Couldn't have gotten it out of the way in April. :argh:

No threepeat for me this year.

Point for next year: find a BPer to replace Serious...unless you want to keep him around for laughs.

Good luck this week, @Ahiacitian.

You too! I just hope that one of us wins and that it doesn't end in a 6-6 tie like @Jake and I last year. And I just "lost" the finals of my other baseball league yesterday in a 6-6 tie after losing K's 90-89 simply because Bundy decided his hammy couldn't let him pitch yesterday. Fortunately his missed start didn't affect this league for me...

I don't know what everyone else in the league thinks about this, but could we move the playoffs up a week next year so the finals are the next to last week of the season like fantasy football? The fantasy baseball season is a grind anyways so I know I could care less if the regular season is one less week. However, I hate the fact that teams that have playoff spots locked up are resting their regulars and giving abbreviated starting pitching outings for their starters. I am where I am at because of the Daniel Murphy's and Clayton Kershaw's, and I am forced to spin the free agent roulette wheel in the finals because these guys are resting? @Jake, I propose a vote to see where everyone stands on this issue...

I have no problem with it. I gave up on fantasy NBA because of the "rest" and "shutdown" bullshit.

I'll have to look at the divisions/schedules. I want to keep it balanced as possible. I was also thinking maybe the finals of the fantasy playoff should be over the final TWO weeks of the regular season.

Definitely will explore options. Just bump this damn thread if I forget by February.

6-6 tie heading in to weekend baseball.

This is fun!

And Matt Carpenter is shut down for the year. I see your Giancarlo Stanton with my Scott Schebler! My best chance to beat you was with pitching and my free agent roulette choices (and some of my regulars) have let me down. Who knows maybe Kershaw's 2-3 innings in Colorado will make the difference tomorrow! Good luck this weekend...Though I think I am the one that needs it!

We'll see. I'm not as confident as you think I might be. It does look like all I need is a tie. Chris Sale certainly didn't help me any and the offensive categories are pretty damn close. Either way, this was a fun season.

Thinking of the possibility that Sanchez doesn't play today, with the wildcard wrapped up, I wanted a guy who could fill-in. I put a claim in for Perez and so now if my team plays tomorrow, I'm all good.

Last day of the season and I'm still an idiot.

Dude. 6.06 ERA. (Drops the mic). You have to work really hard to have a 6.06 ERA for the week. It doesn't get any more idiotic than my pitching moves this week. All my starting pitching was set up for last week, so I knew I would have to stream some this week, but literally every pitching move blew up in my face. I felt I had to do that to stay competitive in W's and K's, but now I feel you rope-a-doped me because you didn't make the pitching moves I thought you would and just sat back and watched my pitching implode.

I basically have to overtake you in RBI's, SB's and TB's to win with everything else remaining status quo. With literally nothing left to play for, nobody is going to be going on a tear today. :pissed3:

You're kind of right. I wasn't planning on making any moves until I saw what was going on. I conceded wins and Ks to you probably as of Tuesday. So now, after seeing your ERA and WHIP, my plan was to just get to 35 IP and chill. So Sale (who still sucked,) Quintana (who got the Reds and made it through 4 before imploding,) Santana and Scherzer were my only planned starts. I figured between them and my relievers, I'd get to 35.

It wasn't a planned rope-a-dope, even if it seems that way now. Just a wait and see approach, including the offensive side, to see just how badly I needed pitching to chip in.

With nothing left to play for for some of my guys, I started unloading some guys to add a couple so I could hopefully field a complete offensive lineup. I saw Perez on Oct. 1 waiver and thought I could use him but totally forgot that if I got him today, I couldn't use him until tomorrow.
