BP Fantasy Baseball (2008-2023, Current Champion = MD Buckeye)

My bad, title updated.

My bad, actually, and I apologize.

I was mad at the world that week and shouldn't have brought it here. Lost another friend far too young - slipped on his wet garage floor, landed on his head and died of a cerebral hemorrhage before surgeons could save him. Fuck off, that's two old mates dying in their 50s this year (Covid took the other).

Just frustrated and missing friends.

No worries and so sorry to hear about your friend.

Unfortunately I think the race to the bottom has begun

I think they are just posturing. They will miss some spring training and maybe even delay opening day but you have to do that to show the other side you are willing to.

Ultimately, it's in everyone's best interest to get a new CBA in place so I think they will. Eventually. I don't think we will have a complete 2022 season but who knows? It may go fast once they start missing ST and the sports news cycles start to focus on it heavily.

Having negotiated 9 or 10 CBAs myself (I lost track after 25 years), I'm always skeptical when either side does not want a mediator. We both agreed to use a mediator every time and it helped facilitate an agreement while saving time. Today, the MLBPA turned down the league's request to have a mediator. They can change their mind at some point, obviously - and maybe they will - but it suggests they believe time is on their side.

It's still early. Over time I learned to not start the process too soon, because parties try to wait out each other. Deadlines make deals. Let's see where they are in a month.

It took about a week more than a month but the deal got done.

League is full unless someone can't play this year - let me know if that's the case. Otherwise, were there rules we wanted to look at this year? Feels like a long time ago.
