BP has two tickets to the Alamo Bowl for you?

A very generous poster has purchased 2 tickets to the Alamo Bowl for this site to use as a mini-fundraiser towards a new server.

After talking with a few people about this, it's unclear whether we should have a raffle for them, where everyone who kicks in a relatively small amount gets an entry in a drawing for the tickets, or whether I should just put them up on eBay and encourage bidding that way.

I'd like to get this going in the next day or two so that whoever ends up with them has plenty of time to make all their arrangements, so I wanted to solicit opinions from the gallery asap.

If there were a drawing, and it was like one entry for $10 (as an arbitrary number), how many would be interested in trying it that way? Or would you all rather see an auction?

A special thanks to this poster, this was an entirely unexpected and appreciated holiday-time surprise, and timed well with the recent concerns about the current machine handling our load.

Mad props to whomever bought them! I think eBay is the better way to go soley on the financial side. Who knows how much we will pull from this? But on eBay you have an idea of what they are going to sell for. On the other hand it would be very very cool for it to be through BP soley.

I agree with Hubs that we'd most likely get more money on eBay, but on the other hand we'd have no control over who bid for them. So, I think it's best to keep it in-house and go with the raffle.

Just as an FYI, here's the ticket info;

Section 119
row 32
seats 15 & 16

Was just looking at a diagram of the stadium and these look like nice seats.

or may be u can put it the raffle method and stipulate that we will go for it if we get a minimum number of entries for it..u can look up at the current price in e-bay for comparable tickets and determine that minimum number based on that..that will ensure that this thing serves as a fund-raiser for the new server

Raffle sounds like the way to go. I have no interest in going to the game, but am up for buying a few tickets in the raffle (If I win just draw again).

However, if the seats are upgraded to behind the Okie State cheer squad I may have to rethink attending the game.

the raffle would generate the most money... but it would involve a lot of logistics... how would you get the money for the raffle purchases from a hundred different sources...

with that said... I think you might be very surprised how much you'd get on ebay... one year, my son didn't get tickets in the student section... he was placed in A... one non-decript game, the fellow next to him stated he purchased the two tickets on eBay at $435 per ticket... and was thrilled...

what I'd further suggest is wait till the tickets are gone... then post to ebay... with Fed Ex next day delivery... I suspect you'd get the max price that way... and the buyer would have the comfort of knowing they'd get them right away... alternative is to post now but have an ending date of x days prior to game with Fed Ex next day delivery...

You may want to go with a drawing after looking at where the seats are. I saw two seats in section 141 (opposite corner) row 2 for $150 "buy it now" yesterday, and there are some on the goal line row 4 today for $250 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=16122&item=2292936861&rd=1

I think that you could get 25 BP posters to participate in a raffle for 10 Bucks. Sorry, I can't participate though...unless it includes a plane ticket from Korea.
