Bracketology and Selection Sunday Discussion

On many Selection Sundays, I still remember when the Ohio State won the Big Ten Tournament and got shipped out to New Mexico.
It should be noted that in the past, the committee has stated that unless there is a team in the championship game that wouldn't otherwise make the tourney, they don't take the result into account.

So do you think that Wisconsin is locked into a 4 seed? I could see them jumping to a 3 potentially if they beat OSU. Maybe not though.

If that either of those [Mark May]ty schools from that bankrupt state are higher than a 3 seed I call BULL[Mark May]!

SO that leaves ZAGA, Indiana, Kansas, Duke, Miami, LVille, GTown, Florida and The Ohio State University.
-ZAGA is a lock for a 1 seed.
-Kansas is a 1 or 2, if Cuse beats LVille gotta think Kansas gets the 1 and shifts Louisville to 2.
-Indiana/Duke are locks for no worse than a 2.

3 spots remain from Florida, Miami, GTown and The Ohio State University.

Out of those 4, NO team is playing better ball the last few weeks then The Ohio State University.

They should 100000% be no worse than a 2 seed. [Mark May] send them out West, who cares. With the pod system they should get to play their first weekend games in Dayton.

Reality check.....

This is the NCAA we are talking about, sound logic and fairness is not necessarily considered in their decision making process.

:tongue2:

I think they're slotted into a 4 seed pretty much regardless of the outcome today. Their early season play is holding them back from a 3. The committee talks about "body of work" but they also claim to place emphasis on the last 12 (used to be 10) games played.

Now, they could move up to a #3 if Syracuse gets bumped down. Lunardi had Syracuse a #3 and they got thumped by Louisville pretty good. Wisconsin's record against RPI top 25 and top 50 is better than Syracuse. We'll see.

Just looked at some bracketology. Not sure how accurate it is in predicting the actual matchups, but in one I saw we would have to play VCU in the 2nd round. That would be horrible.

It would be a hell of a lot better than having to play Florida in the Round of 32, which is what Mizzou would've had to have done last year if they had defeated Norfolk State. Could be worse as a #7 seed.

My seeds :

#1 Louisville, Gonzaga, Kansas, Indiana

#2 Duke, Georgetown, Ohio State, Florida/Miami (whoever wins) I have no idea who will be the fourth seed is neither of these two teams win.

I don't think that Indiana deserves a #1 seed and I am not even sure that Duke deserves a #2 seed because I think both these teams can be really exposed in certain areas. However, I don't know who else you would put up there. I have no rationale for this seeding.

Mississippi may have just popped someone's bubble. Whether the Rebels were on it or not no longer matters - SEC champs.

Syracuse is #12 in the RPI. Wisconsin is #27.
Yes, but Syracuse only has two top 25 wins. They've beat a lot of mediocre teams. They beat Louisville and Georgetown twice, and not much else.

Contrast that with Wisconsin, who has five top 10 wins. If they had only 6-7 losses and UW had 10, it would be a different argument, but they have 9 losses themselves.

I'm not saying UW should be a lock for the 3 seed, just making the case for them over Syracuse.

I just dont see why everyone wants to give Gonzaga a 1 seed.. they are 1-2 against the top 25.. yes, they went undefeated in their conference... but so what? The second place team in that league DIDNT PLAY A RANKED TEAM ALL SEASON besides gonzaga.. they havent proved ANYTHING...
