you've clearly never been to california and probably get all of your opinions from those who tell you your opinions. sure, plenty parts of los angeles and san francisco absolutely suck and, sure, it's kind of expensive to live there, but the state is amazing in all that it offers. you want beaches? you get beaches. you want snow top mountains? you get snow top mountains. you want the desert? you get the desert. you want hot weather all year round? you get hot weather all year round. you want temperate weather all year round? you get temperate weather all year round. you want farmland? you get farmland. you want a great selection of colleges? you get a great selection of colleges. you want job opportunities? you get job opportunities. you want to live among a diverse population? you get to live among a diverse population. you want to live among only those who look like you? you get to live among only those who look like you.

california isn't really anything. california is pretty much all of the united states in one state.

Cali is great for those who can afford to live there. Unfortunately, that's fewer and fewer people. Just look at the shitshow that San Francisco has become since the tech bros took over.

Typical California discussion for a 29-35 year old person (my demographic)
Scene: Day four of a six day California vacation. Our hero is enjoying a cocktail after a late lunch and thinking back to fond memories of the golf round he played at Pasatiempo two days ago and the day long wine tasting bus he rode with his wife just yesterday.

Hero: (big exhale) "Yeah, I could see myself moving here some day"

Epilogue: He never fucking moves there
