Wonder if Cinci bothers to show up at the Sugar? I think they get wiped.

At least they'll have a few thousand of these to use.

Kelly should go to Vegas.

He is leaving Cincy, a team that should be down next year due to all of the losses in the 2-deep. If he had stayed, he couldn't replicate the magic of this season and maybe the shine would be off of his star a little bit.

ND will have very low expectations next year with the Golden Emu and Tate leaving. He shouldn't have that fast start like Tyrone and the Cheeseburglar had causing those damned hyperactive domer fans to "awaken the echoes" or whatever stupid shit it is they say. He may actually be able to enjoy a period of establishing himself at ND.

Leaving one at the perfect time and going to another at the perfect time. He should go to Vegas.

My advice to you, Coach Kelly...man....sir. Is to start eating heavily. A standard has been set, and it must be met or, dare I say it, exceeded. You're on the right track, but more training is necessary.

Fortunately for you, Coach Kelly...man...sir, you are an hour away from the street food capital of the universe: hot dog stands on every corner, Deep dish pizza, italian/polish/bratwurst sausage sandwiches, Harold's Fried Chicken....MR FRICKIN' BEEF!

Come to Chicago. Stay. Grab a bite to eat. Your new university expects no less.

I think Kelly is going to do a good job so I'm not happy about this but one thing we'll have over them whether it be Weis or Kelly is that our coach can wear a pair of corduroys without starting a fucking fire.

Kelly will obviously recruit the Cincinnati area well. Thing is Notre Dame has always recruited Cincinnati well. So I don't know how much juice this gives ND in Ohio other in a place where they've always had a massive presence.

Kelly isn't recruiting Cincinnati that well without Kerry Coombs...and with Kerry being a life long memeber of the Colerain community and with a son who will likely see significant playing time next year as a sophomore at Colerain...
Kerry isn't leaving.

I think Coombs' effect on recruiting has been vastly overestimated. He doesn't have nearly the pull people think outside of Colerain, where he'll obviously be god for years to come.

As a Cincinnati native, I love what Kelly did for the program, and don't really have much vitriol to direct his way unlike most people. I really wish he would have just stuck to his "No comment, big game this week" routine instead of telling some players and ESPN radio that he was staying. Once he started with the 'no comment' routine, it was pretty transparent what was going to happen. Once you've started down that road, stick to it instead of cracking and telling someone you're staying.

Some people expected him to come out and declare that he was staying ala Urban Meyer, but he's a smart enough guy to know that's not required and I would never expect that. Just be honest, even if it means being silent, or just flat out saying 'yeah, I'm looking into it' as he finally did. With that said, while I think a little less of him as a person for being dishonest, the bottom line is he did wonders for a program of UC's caliber and boosted them (if only temporarily) to a team worthy of national recognition. Whether they can stay there will depend on the next guy, but ripping this guy apart (as much of Cincinnati seems to be doing) without thanking him for his contributions is childish and unrealistic.

I have never called anybody a name on BP before but you are clearly an idiot.

Kerry Coombs is responsible for signing almost every single one of UC's 3 or 4 star recruits over the last two seasons. Go talk to Spect...he'll tell you to your dumb face that KC was the exact reason why Massa chose UC.

Get a clue, kid.

So, was this one in the books all week? Did they just throw that bit about the UConn coach out there to take some heat off Kelly?

I'm excited that the Irish are getting a new coach, but I'm worried that we're going to be no better off defensively and we're going to be doing shoot-outs again.

I think Kelly should be able to pull in some slightly better recruits than at Cincinnati, but I don't know if he'll bring in the kind of talent that Weis had. At the very least he should be a better motivator.

Unfortunately ND will be losing another great WR coach/Recruiting coordinator as Ianello is leaving to be HC of Akron. Ianello was a pretty good WR coach and a damn good recruiter, pulled in a lot of great talent, so thats a big hole to fill.

Anyway, since this thread title has changed, can we go ahead and change the Notre Dame SOS, history, Charlie's weight, opinions (not football) thread to read Notre Dame SOS, history, Brian's weight, opinions (not football)
