ESPN: Kelly to interview with ND | cincinnati.com | Cincinnati.Com

All the buzz down here right now. If you are bored, read the comments. The bandwagoners are still delusional...

Yes, they are. Very much so. I love the 'schedule' argument that got going. My lord, the GCL mentality down here rules the day amongst these idiots. They embarrass me.

Hey, ORD...I may be niave or have not spent my whole life following the books at all state universities to form my arguments....so, in all seriousness, please explain to me how private donations from Boosters and Alumni to fund the new practice facility will hamstring Ohio tax payers...?

Lateral move for ND. Enjoy Weis 2.0.

I agree 100%. I am not saying this because of any ill feelings towards Brian Kelly. I do like him and he's the right fit for UC...

...but if ND goes out of their way to hire him, (repeating what I said in the Pitt/UC game thread) they should have saved the 19 million and kept Wies. There is almost ZERO difference philosophically between the two.
translation: offense rules and the defense is just there because the rules say we have to put 11 on the field when the other team has the ball.

I disagree. I think Kelly is a really good coach. Put it this way--do you think that if Weis were at the helm at UC this year, they'd still be undefeated? I don't. I think that team would be 10-2 or 9-3.

I'm not sure they know who Fickell is.

Given that he coaches defense and all that.

They hired Dantonio before Kelly....2 good hires in a row for that adminastration. I think Kelly is an excellent coach and will do very well at ND, IMO. Replacing 10 defensive starters is very hard. He did benefit from solid Dantonio recruiting. I think the biggest difference between Kelly and Charlie is Kelly has head coaching experience. Charlie obviosuly benefited a huge amount by being under Belichek. I certainly don't think Kelly only wins 6 games with Notre Dame's talent and schedule. And I don't think Charlie has Cincy undefeated...I think there is a large gap in coaching talent between the two. As a sidenote, its amazing how many coordinators under Belichik have been complete failures...Mangini, Weis, Romeo Crennel

1) Charlie's ability to underachieve is a given, and his stinkage does not provide any compliment to any coaching comparison.
2) Kelly's success is where Rodriguez & John L Smith became highly touted offensive minds.
3) Kelly does not have the tact to handle the PR under the microscope of ND.

- RR didn't suddenly take stupid pills. He's the same coach he has always been, yet as a headline program, his verbal gaffes are blown up. At WVU, no one cared when his words left something to be desired.

Kelly may be quite successful, but there are plenty of reasons to be concerned.

No doubt Brian Kelly is a good coach. His offense is lights out. Night and day between Weis and Kelly.. Weis couldn't develop players worth crap. In 2007 his center couldn't snap a freakin football. He was used to X's and O'sing with experienced, elite players, not training 18-year-olds to be experienced, elite players.

Brian Kelly, on the other hand, is a good head coach at college.

The question is: Is he elite? Elite coaches put defense #1... Will Kelly? Who knows. Nobody thought of Meyer as a defense first coach, but defense has won 2 championships for him at Florida.
Nobody thought of RR as a defense first coach either, and we know how that's turning out.
So... It's anyone's guess what Kelly will become. I think there are better candidates, with no character issues. Patterson is one possibility.. Fitzgerald.. There are others.

edit-Woo, 1000 posts! Never noticed
