Interesting that Harbaugh is out of it. So far we have Urban immediately declaring his lack of interest, rejecting the Golden Dome for the second time, Stoops having said no and rumored to be over the academic exemptions issue, and now some back and forth with Kelly. I am presuming that with Harbaugh that there was at least some back channel communication going on, so they're at best down to their fourth choice, and it's possible that Patterson was contacted as well.

Randy Edsell seems like a decent guy, but I don't think he's the splashy hire Notre Dame needs to convince the world that they might one day be relevant, so yeah, it's a diversion and not a particularly good one. Kelly is tough minded enough to call their bluff. Really, both sides are bluffing poorly. Kelly throws out something about staying at UC and ND counters with Edsell? Come on. You're both horrible liars. Kelly has no intention of being in Clifton in 2010 and ND is not going to offer Edsell.

Randy Edsell reminds me a lot of Greg Schiano a couple years ago: both young, up-and-coming coaches in the Big East, building a program in less-than-furtile, non-traditional football locales. I make the comparrison for two reasons. First, Edsell should look at Schiano and realize that he'd better get out of dodge while he still can. Second, Notre Dame should look at Edsell and realize he may not be the genius some would have us believe. He may go to Notre Dame and work out really well, but I'll be skeptical until he proves me wrong.

I agree with Mardy. In fact, I am surprised it has taken this long for a senior captain to stand up and say something like this.

this guy has an out of control

ego. a stand up coach would not comment on anything, yet he is on the radio every week KNOWING he will get asked about the ND job. what a schmo. He needs to be quiet. If i was a cincy fan i would not be happy.

Multiple local media outlets now reporting Kelly to ND (big surprise). They state that he just told the team prior to the banquet...

Edit: better put nets on the buildings around campus for all of the jumpers...

Anyone think this will give him more pull in the state of Ohio with recruiting? It's one thing to get a few good ones Ohio State doesn't recruit but do you think he'll start competing for top prospects?
