Browns draft a soljah!

With Bitch Davis in charge, the Browns organization is like a rudderless ship without a captain in a sea of confusion.

I was happier as a Browns fan those 3 years that they didn't have a team than I have been the last year seeing Davis screw things up constantly.

I'm not a fan of Davis either
At the first news of the draft pick I was extemely upset. But getting Jones in the second round made it a little better.

I'm a football fan and the fact that the Browns chose Winslow doesn't upset me. I root for the uniform and not the name on the back of it.
He'll probably be a great TE.

ashland - The 2nd round pick was nice but didn't they give up 3 draft picks to get that 2nd round pick after Butch gave away our original much higher 2nd round pick for no good reason?!? The price was way too high. A 5-11 team needs draft picks and Davis is giving them away like he's a Santa Claus in April.

I don't doubt that Soldjah has the ability to be a very good TE in the league. I too cheer for the team, but it's also nice when the person inside the uniform is someone to cheer for as well.

You could see this coming a mile away. Anybody want to start firebutchdavis.com?
That was started last season.

I am officially no longer a Butch Davis fan. WTF! are we giving up a second round pick for one slot? That has to be the second stupidest thing I've seen from a Brown's coach on draft day(see Belichick wanted Kyle Brady). I think Winslow will be a good pro, but not worth the price. Especially since Detroit probably wouldn't have taken him, and Roethlisberger was still on the board.

Great comments, all. I'm not a Browns fan, nor am I a Browns hater, so I hope that my remarks have some objectivity:

1. Butch Davis drafted like the Browns are a player or two away from the Super Bowl. It is unprecedented for a 5-11 team to trade up twice in the first two rounds, costing themselves two draft picks in the process (one of which was the no. 37 pick overall), and then to draft a back-up quarterback with their next highest pick (especially when there were a ton of functional quarterbacks available in the late rounds). Simply stupid, and proves yet again that Butch does not know how to draft.

2. The Browns' first two picks were for "low value" positions - TE and safety. Not many NFL teams are willing to mortgage a draft to pick TE's and safeties.

3. Butch got snookered by the Lions, who were going to take Roy Williams all along; the Lions had Williams at the top of their board, period.

4. Butch drafted another low character guy. The locker room should be fun with Sista Soldja constantly spouting her mouth off.

Good call Mili the Browns are looking like Miami U. North. I didn't think anyone could screw the Browns up as bad as Belichump did when he was there. I couldn't have been more wrong!

I think Garcia is going to be running for his life behind a non existent offensive line. Maybe Butch thinks he will find some gems in the castoffs during cutdown to fill the holes in the o-line.

I'm sure Bootch is thinking that way. Pro bowlers are cut loose every day....

Maybe as a cap casualty....

To expand on my fourth point, above, here is some of the crap already being spewed by Team Winslow:

KWII - "I'm going to be better than my dad."

KWI - Because his son is the Browns' new tight end, "Jeff Garcia just made it back to the Pro Bowl."

Agent Kevin Poston: "A lot of teams had Kellen Winslow rated No. 1 on their boards. He's that talented. To come up with a value for a player like this is not that easy." Translated: KWII will hold-out until he gets top pick $$$$. Also, Poston called KWII the Browns' LeBron James.

At least Team Winslow will be interesting.
