it's so friggin stupid why Cleveland doesn't get the #2 pick since they lost to Miami.

if San Diego does indeed trade up to #3 to get Mike Williams, Cleveland would need more than the #12 and the #29. It just wouldn't be worth that in my eyes. Throw in a first rounder next year then a deal could be made.

That's 3 first round pick for Mike Williams (Or whoever...)

The only way you get more than 12 and 29 is if you do somthing like trade those two picks for one... and then swap SD's second for Clevelands 3rd... (which won't be far apart.. but there might be some value there)

Once again...on the 'value meter' 12 and 29 is about the league standard (There is some unwritten rule book about this stuff)... and you just won't get more from SD... remember what they pulled off when they had the "Vick" number one and the "Manning" number one....

Anyway- If they would do it... then they would have 12, 29, and like 35 (or whatever).... not too bad.

The Chargers got a #1 and a #2 in 2001 plus a #1 in 2002 + Tim Dwight for moving down 4 spots with Atlanta. The Browns would be moving down 9 spots. Trust me, it will take more than both of SD's #1 to get that #3 pick. a #2 pick this year or a #1 next year would be needed..maybe a #2 pick next year.

In the Manning trade, San Diego got the Giants #1 at pick 4 + a 3rd rounder and a #1 and #5 this year, just for moving down 3 spots essentially.

just saying..moving down 9 spots from the #3 pick in the draft is a huge slide and rarely every happens. I'd say if SD gave up both first rounders this year, a #3 this year, and a #1 next year...go for it

AKAK, were you calling me a dumbass or jerry jones?

its not like the tuna and jones dont like to throw out some mixed signals come draft day. its just like parcells stating that it would be silly to take a cb like rolle high in the draft because of the new rules in the nfl. i'm willing to bet if dallas had the #4 or 5 pick and he was on the board. parcells would bust a nut trying to get his pick in.

now, would dallas be willing to move up to #3 to get him, doubtful.

i still think that between benson, rolle, and johnson, somebody will be willing to move up to #3 to snare one of them.

ESPN just changed Cleveland to the #2 pick..I thought something was strange since Miami beat them.

#2 pick? Gonna take a whole hell of alot.

one scenario I could see is Oakland trading up from #5 to get Cadillack, Benson, or Mike Williams. Clev could get a #2 or a #1 next year for that easy

Jerry Jones... I'll start calling you a dumbass when you start denying major plastic surgery.

Oh...I agree... I just don't think it will be offered. They still didn't get 3 number ones for those other two trades...

SOS is the tie breaker for tied teams. They figure if you have a worse SOS that you really need more help and thus they get the better pick. But if I recall we go back and forth in the order the rest of the way. Meaning we get the #2 pick in Round 2.

But SD will not trade us 3 #1 picks. Maybe we can get their two first rounders this year and a 2nd round & 5th round pick next year. That is a more likely situation. But the problem is SD will probable be fine with staying at #12 and get better depth with #29.

The only way we can trade #3 is if a team drafting #5-#9 really wants someone, ie Braylon Edwards, Cedric Benson, or Antre Rolle. But in reality none of these guys really blow the doors off me at pick #3. And it will figure that the only Offensive Line prospect worth a top 5 pick (D'Brick) will probable stay for his senior year. :roll2:

SD can also trade one of their QB's for extra picks. I don't think they will want to tie up that much salary for 2 guys who play the same position. I would try to get a <15 first round pick for Brees. That will let them trade away 2 first round picks and still keep 1.

They do have to Franchise Drew Brees first since he is a free agent to be. So it won't get done by draft time and any trade would most likely occur after the draft. It will be very hard to trade Rivers due to the salary cap implications of the accelerated signing bonus.

I think that's for Playoff qualification/seeding.

TIE-BREAKING PROCEDURE FOR SELECTION MEETING
If two or more clubs are tied in the selection order, the strength-of-schedule tie breaker is applied, subject to the following exceptions for playoff clubs:

1. The Super Bowl winner is last and the Super Bowl loser next-to-last.
2. Any non-Super Bowl playoff club involved in a tie shall be assigned priority within its segment below that of non-playoff clubs and in the order that the playoff clubs exited from the playoffs. Thus, within a tied segment a playoff club that loses in the Wild-Card game will have priority over a playoff club that loses in the Divisional playoff game, which in turn will have priority over a club that loses in the Conference Championship game. If two tied clubs exited the playoffs in the same round, the tie is broken by strength of schedule.

If any ties cannot be broken by strength of schedule, the divisional or conference tie breakers, whichever are applicable, are applied. Any ties that still exist are broken by a coin flip.

I don't see how Matthias Kiawanuka (is that spelled right?) can not be included on the Browns draft board. I'd put him way above Erasmus James. He's relentless, he works hard and he's got great explosiveness.

Ngata is a low first round pick, Rodrique Wright and Derrick Johnson showed me very little in the games I watched. Ferguson isn't coming out, and Barron and Brown aren't worth #3 overall, Brown especially, being a RT.

At 3, the only players I think that are worth the pick are Kiwi and Antrell Rolle. That could change come combine, but I don't like Rodgers or Leinart, or anybody but those two, and Ronnie Brown.
