Buckeye Nation - Looking for Discussion

Buckeye Nation,

Let me be one of many Husker fans to stop by and say hello. I am a moderator on a Husker message board:

Husker Fan Club - Nebraska Cornhuskers Message Board - Index page

And I am using this monumental event to branch out and look for as much solid conversation on our new suroundings as possible. Please stop in for intellegent, friendly conversation and show us your OSU pride. We are ready for the information overload, but we need the experts to stop in and let us know what we need to know.

I would also love to check in here and answer any questions you might have on the Huskers. I can tell you we're excited, sad, and confident all at the same time. It's been a whirlwind few months leading up to this, but it does feel right. Looking forward to any contributions to our board and yours...

we here at BP welcome you. Although we are not fond of multiple threads with the same topic. I guess we are just elitist pricks that way (inside joke). We'll cut you some slack since you are new to the B10:wink2:

In all seriousness, I am really fired up about Nebraska joining the B10. I have always appreciated Nebraska's tradtion and am happy to have them.

Thanks!

Yeah, I rarely post on other team's boards, and when I do, it's always been in the Big XII. I felt this was a pretty big event from Nebraska's standpoint (don't know about tOSU's) so I thought I'd give it a try.

I don't know if it's true, but I've heard our stadium in Lincoln is modeled after yours. It was built around the same time frame, IIRC. We have sold out more than 300 games in a row dating back to 1962 which is an ongoing NCAA record. During home football games, our fans give a standing ovation to the away team as they leave the field (win or lose).

Any thoughts on how you would like to see the conference aligned? Is there any animosity toward Nebraska for joining the conference from OSU's standpoint? Curious what the Buckeye's pulse is....

Welcome! No animosity at all. I think almost all of us look at landing the Big Red as a major addition to the conference. As for the pulse, there's a major thread in the football forum titled "Big 10 Expansion" that should cover that...

Plus, there's the Bo Pelini angle...a lot of folks would love to see Pelini as JT's successor when the vest bows out (hopefully not for a long time)...

That has been the silver bullet as fas as Husker fans worrying about Pelini leaving.

The slant now is that joining the Big Ten actually helps from the Huskers standpoint. How often do you see a coach leave for another conference team? Not to say it won't happen, but I think it helps Nebraska's chances.

Yup. It would be quite a coup if OSU were to get BP out of Nebraska now. And now I have to hate you because of it.

Not really... I think Ohio State might be grooming someone else for the job

Welcome to the board, and the conference.

How often does Ohio State hire a new coach (hypothetical question, four times since 1950) and how often does a former player get a chance to coach at his alma matter?

If Ohio State comes calling for Pelini I think you are out of luck, but it should be interesting to say the least.

Oh yeah, and welcome to BuckeyePlanet.
