Buckeye References on the Screen

Just a side note, but north of Mansfield is Ashland, where I graduated from college. I went to the university to register classes or something one day during that summer, and part of the downtown was roped off. I stopped by the set with one of my buddies and we could see Tim Robins and Susan Sarandon. The filming was taking place inside of a building. Nothing big, but it was cool to see them sitting in their folding/director chairs out on the sidewalk.

WKRP in Cincinnati

There is a reference to Ohio in 50 First Dates regarding the state bird being a nympho.

Rain Man - Dustin Hoffman repeated his name and address in Cinci and he lived in a home there.
Not really references to tOSU though.

There is a reference to OSU football in 8 simple rules...for dating my teenage duaghter, but it does not favor us. John Ritter told his daughter she could do anything but root for Ohio State and then he also reference the scUm v. OSU game as Easter.

not a movie but the DJ from Sugar Ray wore a Big Kat jersey in one of their videos.

Remember the Titans. The version that ABC played on TV a while ago had a refernce to a player going to play for Woody Hayes and OSU. I'm not sure if it was on the DVD. I think it was discussed before that it wasn't in the original theatre release.

Anybody remember the TV show "Inside Herman's Head" 1991-1994? Myself and two other people thought it was funny so it didn't last long, but the basic idea was that during the show you would occasionally be taken inside the main character's head to see how four different parts of his personality were deciding his reaction. The tough-guy, macho, couch-potato, slob type character (his name was "Animal (Lust)" always wore an Ohio State sweatshirt. Not sure if that was good or bad, but he was the funniest one.

I used to watch HH also. I was at Universal Studios Florida when the cast of the show put their handprints in the walk of fame there (must not have taken much to get to do that). That was probably the same day when Michael Jackson and the kid from Home Alone were on the Back to the Future ride the same time my family was.

Murdock: Why that would be Captain Kangaroo. (or something along those lines)
BA: That's Woody Hayes fool!

People Vs Larry Flynt has the Central Ohio Exterminating sign in the Short North in the background

One of my favorite movies is an old gem from about the mid-fifties I'd say called "Patterns". It starred Ed Begley Sr. and was a powerhouse acting Tour De' Force about the business world. The main character in that film was supposed to be a former All-American running back from Ohio State. Does any one on this board recall that flick? Absolutly worth renting if you can find a place that carries it.

There is an older movie with Robert Duvall in it and it dealt with racial issues down in the south within his family. But the Young adult in the movie went to Ohio State to play football but I think got hurt. The movie might have been a true story also.

The Mongoose
I think that was THE GREAT SANTINI. Good movie.

Ali McGraw's brother in GOODBYE COLUMBUS was a big fan of the OSU marching band.

My daughter watches a show called The Proud Family on the Disney Channel. Their holiday episode last year was about the family taking in a homeless family. During the show, the father, Oscar Proud, was seen yelling at the TV over a bowl game. At the end of the show, he offered the homeless father some money, and the guy said "Thanks but I don't need your money. I didn't bet on Nebraska, I bet on Ohio State".

I just died laughing. I kept it tivo'd for about three weeks and let my girls watch as often as they wanted just so I could hear that clip.
