Pretty amazing how everyone has turned on Butch. Are there any Butch Davis supporters out there? No one seems to be in mourning over this.

Hey- After last year... I didn't have any problems giving him a chance once they had gotten the Cap issues taken care of... but Personnel Gaffe after personnel gaffe later... the guy needs to go.

Consider the following:

First Year.... Gerard Warren- Later we find out that not only was he not the top rated player on the Browns board.. he wasn't even the highest rated DT (I forget who was, and that guy isn't much better... but why are you taking a guy 6 or 7 spots down?)

Second Year... Jeff Faine in round 1... solid Center... second round Chaun Thompson out of where? West Texas A&M? Something like that.... Kid didn't see the field as a rookie.... Pretty sure he doesn't play every down now.... when you have 800 holes... don't you want NFL ready players?

Third Year... The KWII debacle. Everybody and their sister knows the Lions want Roy Williams.... the big to go with Charles Rogers Fast.... and what does he do... gets duped by Matt Freakin Millen. I really don't mind getting Winslow... but even if the Lions took him... someone would have made the same deal to get Williams from you so you get say the 10th selection and a 2nd rounder...

Additionally- Releases both Kevin Johnson and James Jackson for NOTHING.... Even in a fire sale situation, KJ would have gotten you a 4th rounder... heck- a third string free safety is better than nothing.... and Jackson asked to be traded as he was behind Suggs and Green... You telling me the Dolphins wouldn't have given you something for him?

Goes on and ON and on.

I'm glad it's official.

I am disheartened he is gone as it means another unsuccessful attempt at bringing life back to the Browns. I had hoped he was going to be the second coming of Paul Brown. He definitely gave his all and wanted to win, but obviously failed.

I don't think he has anyone to blame but himself. He wanted total control and he was given it. He surrounded himself with people he knew, trusted and thought like him. Unfortunately, he was given his rope and he hung himself.

I expect he will do fine and it is probably best for everyone in the long run. It is time for the Browns to bring in a true GM and get this ship righted. The fans and city deserve it and it will do nothing but strengthen the league.

I am a lifelong Browns fan, and I was behind Davis until about two weeks ago when it appeared that the team had given up (against the Jets), and throw in giving up 58 to the Bungles last week and I can see that this is a good move.

I believe that Davis has something in the works to resign mid-season. Probably the Gators (stop the presses, I know).

Funny story from last week:

An friend of mine broke up with her live-in boyfriend, and told us she was contemplating moving back home to Cleveland and starting over. I was talking to my roommate after that, and he was like, "Cleveland?! That's a dumb idea! What would she do for a job?"

I was like, "I know of at least one opening coming up."

Sadly, she'd probably at least draft better than Butch did.
