Butch Davis Termination Watch.

Chuck Galletti (sp) from the CBS station in C-town said that he would be shocked if Davis was still around for the Bungles game Sunday. It sounds like Davis wants out almost as much as Cleveland want's him out. They're just trying to work out a buy out so that Davis can go take the Florida job.

The main problem in Cleveland is that their recent drafts have done nothing on the field (ie Couch, C Brown, Warren, Winslow)

i wouldnt toss winslow in that group being that he broke his leg 3 games into his rookie season. Warren and Brown are busts. Couch was a sacrificial lamb. This is evidenced by the fact that a 3 time pro-bowl qb is putting up identical stats, and may be gone for substantial time depending on his shoulder.

The fact that davis totally neglected the OL for 3 years is the problem of the browns.

They need to bring a real GM in and hire a proven NFL coach who has experience with rebuilding a franchise because to tell you the truth, it is embarrasing to watch the Browns on Sunday.

I still dont understand the Jeff Garcia signing, we will now be looking for a new quarterback for next year. Its time for change and they need to make it now, is losing one more game even important? The fact they are farther than ever from the being a playoff team and falling apart tells me that wether it happens this week or three weeks from now, that coaching staff must be gutted along with the front office and bring some people in who understand the NFL and what it takes to win on a consistent basis.
Yeah, a real GM would have traded James Jackson for a 5th/6th round pick knowing that eventually you would cut him. A real GM would have traded K.J. for a 3-4th round pick. A real GM would have called Detroit's Bluff and told them "Go ahead take Kellen Winslow and we will just take Roy Williams"

But I will say, the Jeff Garcia signing was a good move, but badly done. A move I wish the Expansion year Browns could have done... and that is to sign a viable veteran QB to take all the hits that a horrible Offensive Line gives a QB instead of screwing up a rookie QB forcing him into bad habits in order to survive the shooting gallery. Just Butch was stupid enough to fall for the "Garcia will sign for millions and millions to be a 3rd stringer on Tampa Bay"

This is unbelievable, but Woody Paige is a total ass-clown.

On Cold Pizza this morning, he suggested that LLLoyd Carr would be a good choice for the Browns. Jay (show host and Buckeye) said "Would they let a coach from M*******n into Ohio to coach?

Woody, informed as usual, says "Sure, on the Pro level. He always wins the game against Ohio State."

Jay holds up his hand and says "Hold it, he's lost 3 of the last 4."

And I apologize for watching the Deuce.

BEREA -- Channel 3 Sports has learned Butch Davis is negotiating with the Browns to resign as head coach.

Sources tell us that Davis wants to cut a deal to leave the Browns by midnight.

Randy Lerner is flying to Browns headquarters at Berea tonight.

Our source says Davis is negotiating a buyout from the Browns. Currently, Davis and Browns management are about $2 million apart on the size of that buyout.

The Browns have Davis under contract through the 2007 season. He is 24-34 as head coach. His original contract, which was extended at the beginning of 2004, was worth $3.2 million per year for Davis.

The Browns released a statement supporting Davis this afternoon saying:

"We reiterate that we are keeping our organization intact in order to focus our efforts toward winning our remaining football games."

We will post more details throughout Tuesday night.
