By the way...the Buckeyes have a game Saturday.

JXC

17-4 since 2001
With all this political talk on BP it seems to have drowned out any talk about what I view as the biggest game year to date yet for the Buckeyes.

Are the Buckeyes going to send a message that they have a shot at winning these next 3 games...or are they going to struggle to even get a 6th win and a bowl bid?

All 3 of these games could go either way. So it's realistic that we finish 5-6...and it's realistic that we finish 8-3 with a chance to go 9-3 in a bowl. And this all starts Saturday. The difference between 9-3 and 5-6 is huge. If we can go out strong Saturday, and have it look like this team is really coming together...the rest of the season, and even next year looks very promising.

The election is over. The Buckeyes season is just getting warmed up!!!

Go Bucks!

more cow bell is what this offense needs........... yeah jus mess'n.

I agree that we could win or lose out. I'd love to believe we'd come out and stick it to them, but its on the road. So you know that means Tressel limiting what we do on offense and telling the specials teams to go score, and have our defense try and hold on..... You should know by now that on the road we take NO chances.

Great Question tho!

I'm just worried. I think this game could look a lot like N.C. State...or it could look a lot like Iowa. And the Iowa game just made me, and everyone, so sick to my stomach. I really really want to see the Buckeyes capitalize on field position and turnovers and win this thing.

you know what I'd love to see man??? To see us Go Deep and go for the knock out after we get the ball off a turnover or on a kick return..... I'm tired of us running three plays and trying to pin them back. While it does work most of the time it also does keep our offense out of rythem.. I'd love to see us come out and get some quick screens in to make the defense come up and then try and get one or two over top...... Also I'm fairly Confident that Troy, and the Multi back look we'll have this week can work on MSU on the ground. I'd love to see us come out and put up atleast 4 touchdowns.... (thats fairly un heard of the past 3 years tho)

I feel pretty comfortable that OSU will beat up MSU. Just a gut feeling, really. I don't think MSU can come back from such a back breaking loss. I'm not particularly wowed by their personnel either, despite Cobb's big day against Michigan.

If we don't stop Cobbs (when he's all they got) I'll be pissed. Seriously just make them throw the ball....... It doesn't seem like its too tough... MAKE THEM THROW......Their backup while he might complete some passes won't tear us up like Philip Rivers or anything....

Okay...well Stanton is their leading rusher and leading passer right now. That hurts. That hurts really bad when you lose your #1 rusher and #1 passer for a game. Cobb could be a problem...but Cobb had his first 100 yard rushing performance last week vs. scUM. What is scary is that it was 200 yards and vs. a good defense. Cobb isn't a threat to catch the ball though...so a nice steady diet of run blitzes would be nice for our defense. I think we can handle man coverage. Our secondary matches up well.

I don't know much about this Damon Dowdell guy. He's a Senior and has always had a back-up type roll. He got a lot of action in 2002 and did well. And his 8-13 effort against scUM isn't too bad either. But it's obvious that he isn't as good of a passer as Stanton...but he could be close. They don't lose too much in the passing game though. But the ground game is going to hurt them big time. The MSU offense just got a lot simpler for Ohio State's defense to deal with.

I wouldn't mind seeing OSU line up in 2 TEs (Coleman and Hamby) and run Joe as the single back, or as the TB with Johnson at FB, and try to grind it out and run the clock. Mix in an occasional one on one shot down field to TG II or Holmes.

Yeah...I like Joe as a tailback. Especially in 3rd and short and goal line situations. He seems to be able to grind the yards out. I still think that the balance of Pittman and Ross getting the load of the carries will work...but I do worry about Ross' ability to hold onto the football. I'd love to see an OSU offense give up zero turnovers. I think with how our secondary has been playing, that we may be able to pick off Dowdell a couple times. Turnover battle is key. That's the only reason Ross scares me.

I think Joe should atleast get 5-10 carries. The guy can run the ball between the tackles! There's no deny'n that, and on top of that he's always going forward. If he doesnt wear the defense down it'd atleast be like throwing a Knuckle ball, and then bringing out the fast ball so to speak with Hall, or Pittman

I had a dream

I would really love to see JT pull a fast one on John L Smith and put into practice the words he used to describe Ginn's SPEED:

"... they're not going to catch him. We should have just had each one of our guys drop to a knee."

Imagine if you will ten Buckeyes making to play their responsibility and position then en masse genuflecting - meantime Ginn SPEEDS to the house.

That would make everyone's list of one of the best college football plays ever ...
maybe even knock of Cal - Stanford

Wow...this is amazing. I am going to save this thread forever!!!

BuckIpower posted 4 times in this thread and only mentioned Troy Smith ONE TIME!!!

Remember, admitting the problem is the first step bro...best of luck during your recovery. :slappy:

One word: Wishbone. Put Johnson at FB and Pittman and Hall at wingbacks, with Holmes and Ginn at wideouts. Smith can run the bone right or left pitching to a trailing Pittman/Hall if need be or he can run it himself...this is of course provided he doesn't initially hand the ball to Johnson. And once the defense starts committing to stop the bone (corners creeping up to contain the wingbacks) you burn them with the option pass deep to Ginn or Holmes. No one hardly ever runs the wishbone anymore, so defenses aren't well-prepared for it. Think of the collective look of absolute shock on the MSU coaches' faces when we line up in the wishbone to start our first drive...
