C Byron 'B.J.' Mullens (Levanga Hokkaido Sapporo - Japan)

I think some stiffer competition could help him raise his game quite a bit

Mullens is developing his game and from all accounts this past season continued to work on his weaknesses. The development of a "Big Man" sometimes takes several years while he is continuing to grow. With Will Dudley and staff working with Mullens, I feel good about him continuing to improve regardless of the fact he is playing in a lower division. I think his experience on the AAU circuit will be huge in his development as a player. Obviously, its hard to find true 7 foot centers who can move and at this early stage, Mullens has good feet, by that I mean, he is not slow by any means and this is key for a guy his size.

This past summer he got some AAU experience, playing against some good competition that included Ohio prospect and highly rated Yancey Gates and by all accounts Mullens performed well against Gates who is a very physical player.

Mullens is now up to 7-1 and around 250 pounds, he is starting to fill out his body. He has the potential to be a good one for tOSU....

B.J. Mullens Transferring to Canal Winchester

Expect to hear some news in the coming days regarding Mullens and where he will be playing basketball next season. Moderators feel free to move this to the rumor mill (if not already there) though the paperwork is already being completed. Look to see him in Maroon and White for a couple years before he wears the Scarlet and Gray.

Hope I don't offend anyone, but I've had friends who attended church there a few times- says it's a cult more than a school. So, I'd venture to say B.J. lives in the area just because I can think of several other options in Columbus for a better private education with higher basketball standards. Also, the transfer would make some sense, a 3 division improvement (6 to 3).

I believe Mullen does live in the area-people have reported seeing him at Kingy's Pizza off 33. I have no idea what school he would be transferring to, but stepping up in comepetition from D-IV would certainly help his development. Pickerington Central-the old school-is purple and white.

Canal Winchester is maroon and white. I go to Kingy's a good bit and haven't seen him there yet.
