Game Thread Cal Bears at tOSU - Sat, Sep 15, Noon ABC

I'd like to think that we pulled it out because we were better conditioned.
But, I think we won because Braxton became Braxton after the coaches took the ball out of his hands too much and hoped someone else would make enough plays to win. The bottom line is winning. Win any way you can.
Just win!

W. :oh:

For those saying Braxton was "OK" today. Translate today's game into a 12 game season. 48 TD passes, 12 TD runs, 3100 Passing Yards, 900 rushing yards. The Defense let us down. If you score 35 points a game at OSU, you should go undefeated.

I've seen several teams today ranked lower than us that look a lot better than we do. I didn't even have to take off the rose colored glasses to see it. We should be ranked in the bottom of the top 25 not the middle.

Well after tonight, OSU might be ranked in the top 10.

Sparty losing, USC on upset alert. I dont think OSU needs to be a top 15 caliber team this year to have a 10+ win season. The rest of the conference is not very good.

Have to be better at defense before I'm willing to peg this team as a 10+ win team. I agree about the conference, but with poor tackling and other issues we've seen, it makes it hard to just assume that many wins. The talent is there.

I really hope not. This team should be ranked about 22nd or so.

Just got back from Columbus, going to post some thoughts before I read back thru the thread...

Penalties, poor tackling, dropped passes and an inability by DBs to get off blocks. Those were the things I'll remember most about this game. Fortunately those are mostly things that can be fixed, and I don't think any of them point to the long-term future of the program.

It reminded me a lot of last year's Toledo game, which I also attended. The Buckeyes were abused on the edges. Even if they make a few more tackles, there were still exploited pretty bad. They gotta get tougher out there.

I don't want to hear about what-ifs in this game. So what if Cal left points on the field? Catching more passes instead of dropping them, making more kicks instead of missing them, committing less penalties instead of more... those are all things that go into being the superior team on the field that day. People said it about Miami two weeks ago, they said it about UCF last week and I bet they were saying it about Cal tonight. None of that matters.

I was disappointed that it looked like Cal was better coached today an made better adjustments. They certainly had their own mistakes, but I was impressed with the way they attacked Ohio State on the edges, countered the blitz with screen plays, and adjusted to find a way to contain, stop, and then rattle Braxton Miller for a while in the second half.

Glad to have Jordan Hall back. They missed Carlos Hyde a lot though.

Nathan Williams is out of control, and it hurt the Buckeyes a lot today.

Anybody who thinks The Shoe is quiet can piss up a rope. First of all, don't judge the place by what's going on when there's a no-name team on the other side of the field. Say what will about being loud all the time and being a superior fan to all the other people at the game, but some opponents just don't deserve that level of output from the crowd, and quite frankly the team shouldn't need it. I yelled my ass off today. Lost my voice in the 1st quarter. I was in 11C for those who feel the need to compare with their own view of the situation. I want to give credit to the crowd from Cal. They were classy, and they really brought it as fans long before their team came roaring back. I think they lit a spark in that stadium and brought out the best in the home crowd.
