no.

1. we are 2-3 in conference play after today. we get neither ttun, nebraska, nor indiana at home. odds of at least a .500 conference record are not good. we can get in with a 9-11 record, but we'll need at least a couple big wins (with at least one being at ttun/msu) and perhaps no first-round flameout in the conference tournament.

2. our non-conference performance was good, but creighton and cincy (and certainly ucla) aren't that impressive.

2. our trajectory is trending down, and it's a sharp trend.

The wheels are falling off a little bit and they dont have a strong identity right now. I think they can turn the corner but someone has to figure out how to score and stop relying on Wesson so much. Team basketball on both ends are the only way this roster can be successful.

Couple weeks ago I thought they might only lose 7-8 games outside of the tournament which would have put them in a great position. Now, I'm thinking that number might be 10 which still gets them in but not a slam dunk as before.

Before MSU I was predicting a 11-9 record in conference but the Rutgers loss and just the way we've been playing, especially in terms of what our guard play is looking like right now, is making 11-9 look like a stretch. I doubt we're favored in a single remaining road game, and I'm not sure we're good enough to get through the rest of our home games without dropping a couple of those, too.

Seems like the "zone frustrates, Kaleb gets in foul trouble, other players don't make enough plays" pattern is going to repeat itself a lot from here out.

It will be interesting to see what happens. The parameters have changed the past year or two with how teams get into the Dance, the committee doesn't really seem to look at the number of losses as much as they look at the number of Tier 1 wins, but we absolutely need to play better than we have been these past couple games to even get those Tier 1 wins, even with all the opportunity for that in a strong B1G. And they are placing a lot of emphasis on the NET rankings. Not really sure how that will shake out for us if we lose 10 or 11 games in a conference with a lot of high NET teams.

I voted yes but I had a very difficult time in doing so. I think they can only afford one more home loss (ttun) and they must win their remaining road games against teams that are currently beneath them in the standings. Exclude road games at MSU, ttun, Maryland, Purdue, and may be Archie's boys. They probably will also lose at Nebraska so maybe I should have voted No.

We only play scUM on the road.

Won't even make the NIT

You could be right but man, that would mean this season went really South. We have one OOC loss and the B1G is so strong, it's possible finishing 8-12 in conference would still get us into the NIT. Maybe even 7-13.

However, the team that played the last two games is going to have a very difficult time finishing 8-12.

I am beginning to question if this team can even play better. We are simply awful down the stretch of games because we have precisely zero guys who are clutch or reliable in those scenarios and Kaleb is too easily taken out by collapsing Ds with absolutely no one else on our team making the Ds pay for that. I figured defensively we'd be able to keep most games close but we're getting worn out by the end of these contests and when you don't make a FG for minutes on end you probably shouldn't be expecting to stay in the game because of your defense.

This was one good game out of the last four or five for Washington but all the same I think I'm ready to see more of him and less of Woods. Aside from the Illinois game (which feels like an age ago), Woods seems incapable of being an impact contributor in this conference. I don't really know why that is because Woods did just fine in the ACC, but all the same it seems to be the case. I don't think Washington is magically going to start lighting teams up on a consistent basis now, but let him play, make mistakes, get comfortable out there, develop for next season. Woods will be gone and he is not giving us much, anyways.
