Quick update - we got the tests results back on the bone scan and MRI, and the preliminary results of the PET scan, and all were negative. Obviously this is good news, and it means the cancer has not yet spread into any bones or other organs. We still won't know the extent of the problem until his surgery on Tuesday, but I'm glad for even this little bit of good news. Thanks again to everybody out there for their support and prayers.
Hopefully that means the surgery can take care of the problem, and then the prognosis could be good. I'm praying for you.

Another update - my father had his surgery yesterday. The surgeon said everything went about as well as can be expected, but we still won't know anything until we get the results of the lymph nodes back from the pathologist, which will probably at least be Friday, maybe later. The surgeon seemed pretty positive, so that is obviously a good sign. He feels confident he got all of the cancer out, and said that the tumor had NOT penetrated through the wall of the intestine or into the muscle tissue.

I can't thank everyone enough for their support and prayers, and would humbly ask that everyone continue to keep my father in their thoughts and prayers for the next couple of days. If the lymph nodes are clean, then my dad won't have to have any further treatment...if not, they'll want him to do chemo, and to be honest, I don't know that he'll do that. They'll have to prove to him it's worth it...but that's irrelevant right now. My sincere appreciation again to everyone.

Sorry to hear all this. I have no idea how I missed this thread. One of the guys I work with just went through a huge bout with this. He had a growth on his neck, and it all started from there. Went through surgery, chemo. Things were not looking good at all after his first round of chemo, as the cancer was back. However after the second round, looks like they got it. Talk about being relieved. So keep in mind, no matter how bad it seems, never lose hope.

Another update...this one isn't so good. We got the results back from the pathology lab, and they are classifying this as Stage Three cancer. The tumor actually was through the wall of the intestine, and they found cancer cells in the lymph nodes....five of them, to be exact. Not looking for sympathy from anyone, I'm just wondering who the fuck I pissed off in my last life. After dealing with eight years of my mother's cancer, my father doesn't think he is going to go through chemo, so this is a bad situation. I would ask for the continued prayers from everyone here that has been doing so....and thank you for those.
