  • First I think any insurance is a crock, but the law says we have to have it. But does anyone have suggestions of who they use? Mine ends at the end of the month and I just got a bill to re-up my old insurance. But they pissed Me off because they want to charge Me 95 more dollars a month because I moved 4 miles down the street. Out of Hilliard and into Columbus, although I am closer to UA then I am Columbus

My wife called Geico a few weeks ago and they gave us the lowest price we could find so far.

    buckeyefool,

That's how insurance works. Every company you check out will have a higher rate than at your old Hilliard pad. You are in a little rougher part of town actually.

Geico may be cheap but you don't get the coverage that you would with a more reputable company.

I actually just checked proggressive and can get it at about 100 bucks cheaper. Called the company I go through and asked them about it. They said yeah thats about right because if you go straight through them and don't deal through us they take a chunk off to make it cheaper

Wow. $300-ish per month? Yikes. I pay just over $300/month for 3 cars. I have yet to find a company that can beat my rates with State Farm. But, I've used them for 10-12 years, have my home insurance with them, haven't had a ticket since I was a teenager, and I'm married (big discount there...).

I do remember, however, when I was just out of college and driving a Cougar XR7 (5 speed super-charged v-6). I moved to Cleveland (Westlake/Rocky River area) and several companies told me that they wouldn't even ensure me, a young kid in a big city with a fast car. That wound up being pretty expensive for a while....

I used to use Progressive around 8-10 years ago. They were very efficient whether I needed a new insurance card faxed or pulled out of a snow bank during a blizzard. They had the best rates and I was high risk at the time. I can't think of any complaints during the 2-3 years that I used them, except that everything was handled over the phone at the time.

EVERY insurance company is fabulous as long as you pay your bill and make no claims... the most important thing to research is... which AGENT has a reputation for going all out to help you when something happens... the last thing you need when the defication hits the ventilation system is more stress and runaround from your insurance company...

and sorry fellas... I can't feel sorry for any of you... I live in THE highest car insurance state in the USA... general rule of thumb is... whatever your ANNUAL payment is in Ohio will be your QUARTERLY payment in Jersey... and it held true... when the kids got their license... boy was $2600; girl was $2200.. $1000 deductible...

Jersey is a no-fault state... doesn't matter who is at fault, your insurance company pays for your loss...
