NCAA rules Jarrett ineligible

Southern California wide receiver Dwayne Jarrett violated NCAA rules by not paying enough rent for the apartment he shared with Matt Leinart and was declared ineligible - although the All-America receiver might not miss any playing time. Jarrett must apply for reinstatement with the NCAA before he can play this season and he might have to repay several thousand dollars to Leinart's father, who paid most of the rent on the apartment. NCAA spokesman Bob Williams said a case like this can be resolved in three ways: a student-athlete can be denied reinstatement; regain eligibility with no conditions attached; or be required to miss games and/or pay back the extra benefit.

What do you guys think of Jarretts bullshit in the Rose Bowl?

Im still amazed he didnt get called for unsportsmanlike conduct and taunting at all.

Definitely lost a lot of respect for him tonight. He acted like a complete asshole IMO.

EDIT: Im not trying to bash him, but I have always read/heard that he was all class.

not condoning his actions, but when questioned about it after the game, he said that when they are talking shit after every play that they deserve what they get. i agree.

was the Manningham throat slash (not flagged) classless? was Hart saying they were going to run up the score before the game classless? was Breaston classless with his antics after a first down catch while trailing by 3 scores? were Barringer and Hall and Trent classless when they were talking shit the ENTIRE first half?

fuck them. if you don't want the other team to throw your shit-talking back in your face, then you might want to try stopping them from going off for 11 catches and 200+ yards.

He acted like a jackass, but when you go for 200 and 2 TDs you can act like a jackass.

I agree with a lot of what you said lvbuckeye. I guess I just think that if you are really good, then other teams are always gonna be talking crap in your face and you learn to rise above it and ignore it.

...which is by and large a testament to the type of program that Tressel runs... there have been a few isolated incidents this season (Yao high stepping, Jenkins' spike, Pitt's jump shot), but it hasn't been problematic at any point, and honestly, the same can be said for USC. i see the vast majority of their games, and Pete might be a little too 'rah-rah' for some people's tastes, but his teams should NEVER be confused with the old Canes squads... as it has been said before, this seemed completely out of character for DJ (whom Tressel recruited like a mofo), and i think it has a LOT to do with the disrespect, whether actual or perceived prior to the game, then the shit talking initially, and then his emotions getting the best of him when he started going off on those clowns...

at any rate, i suspect that if that was Teddy out there today, Tressel would have had a few choice words for him on the sideline...

i agree that "rise above" seems to be a good motto in this situation...

if you're talking about pitt's ballin' in the scum game, there was an official that he shot the ball to. being at the game, i remember seeing (however odd, considering the cheering) that the ball was thrown to an official. i couldn't tell from my seat that he was ballin', but i did notice that there was an official there, which is what you can't see on tape. the ball went over the scum defender's helmet (what you can see on tape) toward the official.
