Cavs 07-08 Season Thread

I would do that...That would allow us to take a big guy with the pick in the first round to develop behind Z...

Would also give us the best backcourt we have had since LBJ got here...

West and Redd...

I do it in a second as well. One problem is Bobby Simmons got wayyyy overpaid on hi slast deal and we'd be eating a huge contract coming in with Michael Redd's.

Still worth it.

Regardless of the 1st round pick rule, they need to keep it anyway to add a young player. I do think they can get a decent player at 19. I don't want KK, but I'd gladly take Lawson, Roberts, Rush or Buddinger. Of course, the options change if they make a trade.

Players rumored to be available that the Cavs are interested in and could realistically trade for: TJ Ford, Redd, Hinrich.

there was a rumor at hoopshype.com saying...

Wally
Joe Smith
Anderson Varajao
Next years #1

for:

Bobby Simmons
Michael Redd

I'd do it.....

and the Bucks want expiring contracts to build around Yi and Bogut apparently.

I would do that in a second, but that means that they have to draft a big this year that can play some valuable minutes next year.

IMO the commotion over the Cavs loss is WAY overblown... I don't think they are far off at all from being Champion caliber... if not for the worst shooting slump of LeBrons era, they beat Boston... and thus one could surmise they could have beaten Detroit... and thus right back into the NBA championship

often just being good enuf isn't as valuable as a bit lucky too

if we could somehow pull a Memphis deal and package all our extra baggage (Jones', Sasha and maybe AV) together for someone's jewel... we're there...

I understand what you are saying, but while we were close there is still room to improve to make sure we are a team that deserves to be in the talk for top couple teams...

We need to improve the guys around LBJ somehow someway...Hopefully Ferry makes the right deals...

-The Indiana Pacers are trying to dangle the #11 pick in hopes of being able to package it with one of their ugly contracts (preferably Jermaine O?Neal). There is talk out of O?Neal?s camp that he anticipates being trade to Cleveland at some point this summer, possibly in a deal involving expiring contracts such as Wally Szczerbiak and Eric Snow.

The Pacers don?t want to give O?Neal away for nothing, but the temptation of shedding his 23 million dollar contract from their cap figure (giving them substantial cap space to work with in July of 2009) may be too great to pass up. On Cleveland?s end, it makes sense for their ownership to spend the money it will take to try and appease LeBron James and show them they are making the efforts to put together a championship caliber team. We?ve heard rumblings about this Cleveland/Indiana trade from a number of well-informed sources, so there appears to be at least some truth to it.

:) do it

If it was just for expiring contracts and maybe a player (wild thing), I'd do it as long as he passed a thorough physical. He's only 29 and could help inside. If it includes a first rounder, any first rounder, then I'm out.

Do you think his injury problems are partly related to playing for a shitty team or is he a risk to get hurt all the time? Although if the Pacers will trade him for any two expiring contracts with no 1st round draft picks I'm in. If they are willing to trade the #11 pick along with a bad contract just to get cap space I don't see why this wouldn't be true. If they pulled this off would the Cavs move Wallace to the bench?
I just took a look at the trade machine and JO only has 1 more year on his deal. I don't really see what unloading him does for the Pacers except just to get rid of him. They can save a few million dollars and maybe get some luxury tax relief from the NBA if Snow get his unable to play thing. Adding a guy like Andy would make it more believable.

If we get a healthy ONeal then you could pencil us in as right up there as a top 5 team in the NBA...

Boston, LA, NO, Cleveland, Spurs/Phx
I really think they need the outside shooting before getting another upfront player. Doesn't JO almost play the same position as LBJ or are they interchangeable.

I'd really like an awesome guard at this time, a Baron Davis, Michael Redd type player could get us there- and not at an overly hefty price either.

We're a top 5 postseason team as it is, as LeBron comes to a whole new level when it counts.

D-Gib being out killed us in game 7, and with him we would've killed Boston. If we could somehow steal a star from somebody for people like Varajeo, Sasha, Jones, and/or Wally, it'd make a dynasty.

LeBron with his Pippen, can you imagine?

I think JO is more of a 4 than Lebron. I do think that they will need a good SG as well, but a healthy JO would put them up at the top of the East even with the current team. Then they could use the draft pick on the top SG. If they could somehow pull JO and Redd it would be bigger than what the Celtics did last year.
