I know it's still early in the season but I am start to worry about the playoffs. To be honest I doubt they will make it. They are in the strongest conferance, and apparently havent been performing. I believe they should do anything to get ron Artest. I know he is trouble but he is a great defensive player who can start making plays soon. If nobody else is going to score on the team besides Lebron then they need D.

definitely way too early to know who is going to the playoffs

wouldn't this suggest they need offense? indy opponents averaged 3-4 less points per game when artest played... that's not gonna overcome offensive woes.

Artest is a very complete player with a good offensive game. There are a couple problems with him though.

First, and less importantly, he plays the same position as Lebron. Lebron could conceivably move to the 2-guard a la Jordan though and I think they would compliment each other nicely. The biggest problem with Artest is the very fact that what he is doing right now to the Pacers is so wrong on many levels, not the least of which is the fact the Pacers stood behind him and supported his undeserving ass all last season after he got suspended. This ranks at or above T.O. in "me first" mentality. And considering that Artest is upset with the amount of shots he is allocated under the Pacer's current offense, how in the hell would he be okay with the amount of shots he'll get on "Lebron's team"--it is Lebron's team after all.

Perhaps Artest needs a strong leader in the form of a Lebron James to harness him in, kind of how Jordan helped reign in Rodman during the second half of the Bulls dynasty.

I think it's an interesting prospect. I wish the Cavs would have gone after Kenyon Martin during the Boozer fiasco, however. He would have brought great defense and decent offense down low.

Well there is already a cavs thread so this could of been posted there and sure it well be merged soon, so I will just comment in here.

Z was down tonite, which really hurt them, Hughes hasnt been playing well as of the last week and a half, and the bench hasnt been producing.

This team does not need ron artest, what they need right now is a little leadership wheter it come from Lebron, Hughes, coach Brown whoever, but someoen needs to step up and lead this team to better days.

Tonite was just a horrible nite as they couldnt even make a shot.

The problem is in the late minutes of games they don't have that killer instinct to close it out.

This team is diving me crazy.
Larry Hughes came in as a big time scorer, and defender. His defense has been pretty bad. He misses more layups than anyone I have ever seen.
Damon Jones thinks he is alot better than he is. He is a good shooter, but not great.
Gooden doesn't score enough points to suck so bad on defense.
Eric Snow is good defensively, but he has no offense at all. The defenses give him no respect at all.
I am a foot shorter than Z, but I could score on him at will. At least he has some offense though.

Mike Brown has this constant look of "oh fuck, what do I do now" on his face. He is the least active coach I have seen.

This team badly needs a defensive/rebounding power forward, and a real point guard.

I know it's early, but this team looks like a mess. I really hope they turn it around soon.
Losing to the worst team in the league at home is scary.

It's early, so let's get it going.

Last night's loss was my fault. When I turned on the game they were up 15-6 and they sucked from then on out.
I was disgusted with the game last night. They looked like they had about as much bball experience as my rec league team our first couple games of the season. The way they played last night I would give up anyone besides James, Hughes, and Z to get Artest (even though the Pacers won't trade him to anyone in the East). The Cavs have no clue how to play defense. Something has to change, either they need to get their current players to start playing good defense, or they need to change the players. It might help when they get Newble and Varejao back because they can defend, but they really need a PF that is a great powerful defender that doesn't really need to do much on offense, but get rebounds.
On a side note I have never seen NBA shooting as bad as the Cavs looked last night. It reminded me of the game in Varsity Blues the night after they got drunk at the strip club. Lebron eventually heated up, but he was the only one.

has anyone seen Bull Durham? Recall the lollygagger scene? The Cavs are full of them.

Absolute laziness on defense. James is as big a violator as any of them.
Hughes used to play aggressive defense, until he realized that if he takes a risk and gets beat, nobody on the team will help him defensively. Snow is the only thing close to a good defender on the team. He and Wilks are the only two that play with any sort of sack for a whole game, but they lack the talent to make a difference.

It's a simple game. You pass the ball. You catch the ball. You shoot the ball.

You defend the ball. You defend off the ball. You rebound the ball. (ok, I think I just made it too complicated for the Cavs.)

Thanks alot Hawg. :)

Their defense is a joke.

Marshsall hasn't hit a 3 since the 8th grade picnic. Jones hits one of every 10 he takes and they all play defense while scratching their balls. They don't even get their hands up.

The friggin' Hawks, at home ? !!!

Dont think it was 15-6 as the Cavs were up 12-8 and ATL went on a 17-7 run to end the quarter.
