CB Damon Arnette (2nd Team All B1G)

I can’t recall a guy who improved his stock so much in the course of a year. Where would he have been drafted last year? 4th round? 6th round? Unreal!

Last year the 19th guy selected got a contract for $13,418,544, he'll get a little more this year. The value of third-round contracts drops to $3.3 million, but takes an even bigger hit in guaranteed value, with the average contract worth just $756,000 in guaranteed money. Once a player falls past the third round, most draft picks will sign a 4-year deal in the $2.4-2.9 million range.

Just sayin'; Damon could have very easily made over $10M by coming back for his senior year.

“What a standard we have at Ohio State that somebody would describe Damon Arnette as an underachiever for a while, as a three year starter on a really, really good team and a really good defense,” Coombs said. “That speaks volumes about the standards that we have at Ohio State.”

“Damon Arnette is going to be a very, very good professional football player,” Coombs said. “It’s important to Damon and I think Damon has made tremendous strides. Personally, I think his work ethic has climbed off the charts, and he is a tough, competitive player, and he’s more savvy and more smart, probably than people give him credit for.”
