DerJuan 'Peewee' Gambrell (Toledo Rogers HS) ? The second Toledo area commit of the year came from a cornerback with intimidating stature at 6?2 and 180. Gifted afoot with 4.5 speed, Peewee is not much of a child anymore. What makes him attractive as a recruit for OSU is his size, especially considering that the defense runs many zone coverages which tend to favor the taller CB?s. He holds some of the most impressive track times in Ohio as a hurdler, which gives you an idea of his hip flex abilities. TR currently has him listed as a 4-star recruit, coming in at 15th in Ohio. Gambrell is a talented athlete who in a worst case scenario should be able to assist the Buckeyes on special teams in both coverage and returns, and he should be able to do so sooner rather than later.

Last summer, Rogers' DerJuan "Peewee" Gambrell, now entering his senior year, picked up a scholarship offer from Ohio State and later committed to the Buckeyes after attending camp there. Asked whether Gambrell would have likely still received an offer without a camp visit, Rogers' coach Rick Rios said, "No, I don't think they would have offered him one."

OSU COMMIT 'PEEWEE' GAMBRELL PLAYS THE GAME LIKE A GIANT

TOLEDO ? When Toledo Rogers defensive back DerJuan Gambrell steps on the football field you immediately take notice.

The 6-foot-2, 180 pound athlete is electrifying, he has blazing speed, lightning quickness, incredible leaping ability and gritty toughness. Gambrell is the definition of what every coach looks for in a defensive back.

Not bad for a kid whose nickname is "Peewee."

I saw Derjuan play 3 times last year and he didn't let down in any of the games. I am by no means an authority on evaluating talent, but this kid looked like the real deal each time. He also has great length and will fill out his frame once he hits campus.

Great to hear. He's a relative unknown in recruiting circles, so it's great to hear a first-hand report.

At Rogers, the speedy and agile 6-2, 180-pound Gambrell is a multitalented, two-way player. He plays both at running back and receiver, and leads the defense from his safety position, although Ohio State recruited him to play cornerback.

"I took the first offer that was given to me because it was Ohio State and that's my favorite school," said Gambrell, echoing Hayes' sentiments. "I really didn't have to go through all of the recruiting with a lot of schools.

"It was nice. I went down there and they showed me the campus and showed me around the facilities. They liked my height as a corner and that I can turn and run with the receivers. They said I had good hips, and they liked my height and long arms and speed."

Rios said he'll keep Gambrell at safety because he's more helpful to the Rams' defense there.

"PeeWee just has a tremendous burst," Rios said, "and he has a nose for getting to the football. He's really a big contributor for us on both sides of the ball, and he's got big-play capabilities all over.

"There's no doubt he can play corner. He has great hips, and that's one thing Ohio State saw right away. He's very smooth turning and running and changing direction. He's going to be awfully good down the road."

Ohio State-bound senior DerJuan "PeeWee" Gambrell alternated with Rogers senior Marquise Snider at quarterback. Gambrell finished 4 of 4 for 98 yards and a score. Snider completed one pass - the 49-yard TD to Powell.

So if I'm reading this correctly... they only completed 5 passes in the entire game?

Even though DL has doubts, the kid is 6ft 2 180 and runs a 4.5 forty. Could play a number of positions.

Gambrell suffered a knee injury and watched most of the second half on the Rams sidelines.
