Sad to see Clarke go like most of everyone...have to wonder if this was say braxton miller if he would be released...just throwing that out there

No need to speculate about that. We have no way of knowing.

Best of luck to Clarke.. too bad he couldn't stick around, but I'm glad this is the route Meyer is taking.

Sad to see him go although I did grow tired of his hot dogging after plays this year.

Does Urban have a history of letting guys earn their way back on the team?
Yes. He has a history of it, but he doesn't release them from their scholarship before doing that. Look at Chris Rainey as an example. Had an indefinite suspension, but never released from schollie and ended up serving a 5 or 6 game suspension I believe.

Many others besides just Rainey.

Let's hope we neve have to find out and leave it at that.

Urban has already demonstrated full integrity in this area. Two words: Cameron Newton.

Urban kicked an amazing QB off his team, all but giving the national title to Auburn.

Clarke pleads guilty

Former Ohio State cornerback Dominic Clarke pleaded guilty yesterday to operating a vehicle while impaired.

Clarke, 20, was stopped on Jan. 7 by Ohio State police for running a stop sign and for driving 35 mph in a 20 mph zone on W. 12th Avenue near Neil Avenue. Clarke was dismissed from the team a few days later.

Franklin County Municipal Court Judge Andrea C. Peeples suspended Clarke?s license for six months, placed him on probation for two years, fined him $375 and ordered him to attend an intervention program.

Clarke pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct after firing a BB or paintball gun at an on-campus restaurant in October. He was ticketed last February for driving 51 mph in a 25 mph zone on Woody Hayes Drive.

Transfer from Ohio State gives ISU depth on 'D'
By Randy Reinhardt | [email protected]

NORMAL ? Dominic Clarke, a cornerback who started three games at Ohio State last season, has signed a scholarship offer to transfer to Illinois State.

?I?m excited about that. He?s a really good athlete,? ISU coach Brock Spack said. ?We thought we needed a little more depth over there. He?s a guy who could play offense, too, receiver or tailback.?

The 5-foot-10, 191-pound Clarke played in 12 games for Ohio State in 2011 and had 12 tackles. He had 14 tackles and an interception in 2010. He will have two years of eligibility at ISU.

?You cannot have enough defensive backs,? said Spack. ?You can have a lot of fun as a defensive coordinator when you have guys who can cover like that.?

Spack indicated the addition of Clarke, a potential kick returner as well, may allow the Redbirds to look at cornerback Michael Banks on offense as a back or receiver. Banks started at cornerback in 2011 as a true freshman.

An academic all-Big Ten Conference selection in 2010, Clarke was released from his scholarship at Ohio State in January after two off-field incidents. Clarke was cited for operating a vehicle while impaired and for shooting a BB gun near a residence hall.

?He has to mature a little bit,? Spack said. ?The guy who recruited him is a very good friend of mine, Darrell Hazell. Darrell said he?s a good kid who made a dumb decision. I?m pretty comfortable he?s going to be a good kid for our program.?
