CB Gareon Conley (D.C. Defenders)

I'd still like to see what he would do as a WR. Very excited about his upside either way. You can't teach his athleticism and length. In a class loaded with studs it wouldn't surprise me to look back and say he was one of the best. I just hope he is hungry. As always, that makes the biggest difference.

*Edit: Just watched his vids again......wow. He looks like a total sleeper to me. I know it's hard to say that about a 4* kid but he looks like he has all the tools to be elite.

Not sure if this accurate but his 40 time has been listed at 4.38. That is definitely elite speed.

North-South All-Star football game last night...

Trifecta: When asked who on his own team impressed during practices, Hicks offered up Massillon Washington receiver Gareon Conley (Ohio State).

"I didn't think he was all that fast but when we went against each other in practice he got me a couple times," Hicks said. "I got him too, though. I'd say we were even."

Not exactly.

Hooking up with Massillon teammate Kyle Kempt on three touchdown passes, Conley was named the North's Offensive MVP. Kempt was the game MVP.

Two Buckeyes dominate the game, love it  I actually prefer Conley at WR...he has the length and ability to be our true outside guy down the road and can redshirt this year to learn the position better. Plus we have some longer young corners with Powell, Burrows, Apple, Webb, etc. and I think his skillset would be more valuable for us at receiver. If anyone can find an online link to the game, greenies! (won't be able to see it out here) Also, that Kempt kid is a pretty darn good QB...definitely will be rooting for him at Oregon State.

Side note-Just tragic for the Whitmer QB Holley...so sad what some of these kids have to go through at such a young age :(

His mother passed away a day or two before the game, for those wondering. Poor kid.

I think Gareon can be really good for us at WR or corner. I'm probably more excited about him at corner, but I was also more excited about Teddy Ginn at corner at first...

In what would almost certainly be filed under the category of good problems to have, Gareon Conley officially joins the Ohio State football program next month without knowing what position he'll play.

He's going to be one position group's gain, but after catching three touchdown passes in the Ohio North-South All-Star game late last month, Conley said he still isn't sure if he'll play wide receiver or cornerback when he gets to Ohio State.

Last year at this time, Conley was committed to Michigan. He flipped his commitment to Ohio State after his final high school season at Massillon. The 6-foot-2, 170-pound Conley was listed by Scout.com as a four-star prospect, the nation's 13th best cornerback prospect and a top-130 player nationally regardless of position.

As for his position starting in June, Conley said he'll take it one step at a time.

"I really don't know," he said after the North-South game. "I think it's up to the coaches. I'm up for whichever one gets me on the field first, but I'm just excited to get there.

con't.
