Uh, why wouldn't Mike Doss be good enough for your event?

Rumors floating on Bucknuts are that Doss isn't such a great ambassador to the Buckeye Nation anymore. In one of BuckeyeChief's monthly autograph post, someone other than Chief mentioned that at an autograph signing in Columbus, Doss wouldn't sign any Buckeye memorabilia because he's "a Colt now." There were several others that mentioned how uncordial he was even though people were dropping their money for his signature.

If this is true about Doss, it is very disappointing. He was a "Buckeye" to a "T" when here, and it is hard for me to believe he is now trying to disassociate himself with the University he helped to a National Champtionship.

Hello fellow Buckeyes:
I am the newest member to this forum as I have just registered a few minutes ago. I have been reading from this site for several weeks now, and I do like all your messages and news. However, when I read the rumor from COXEW, I was disappointed that he posted that. A rumor like that can ruin someone's image, especially one, Mike Doss, who gave his all for us when he was a Buckeye. As far as I am concerned, once a Buckeye, always a Buckeye. I am not sure where the rumor started, but it should stop here in our Buckeye nation unless you have proof...which I doubt. Even if he did, may be it is part of his contract for that particular event, which pro athleles have from time to time.

Buckeye1, I simply posted what was on Bucknuts. I could have posted a link but considering the animosity between members of the two sites I didn't feel it was necessary. I wasn't posting it as a fact and thus prefaced it by saying so.

As far as proof goes, go to Bucknuts, find the thread and e-mail the poster's directly. I don't know what to tell you. If I have a bad experience with someone/something, that's all the proof I need.

more on mike doss and autographs....

i think this happened at the stadium scrimmage last year (not the spring game but the saturday before that). anyways lots of guys were there showing off their rings. lots of autograph hounds were there too. many players (especially the lesser known players) were signing autographs and giving way too many of these autograph seekers a new definition of woody that didn't involve coach hayes. anyways mike doss for whatever reason did not sign and all these grown up men actually booed mike doss in ohio stadium because of it. if it were me i wouldn't sign for these 'fans' either.

what fucking losers these autograph guys are.

biatch.....wonderfully said.....

ive always said that these grown men who stand in line, and pay to do it, for an autograph have serious issues.....they seem like they actually expect the player to stand up and greet them like a life-long friend and pose for pictures for the next hour...

it amazes me....

I...and my friends....find it extremely "submissive" and an act of openly announcing personal failure for an adult to wear another mans jersey.....

Hi...I am a grown man....but I worship Mike Doss....a kid half my age.....so i wear his jersey.....

Its like the guys that pay to stand in line for an 18 year old kids autograph.....anyone over the age of 16 who does this is facing some issues as well....

I just wish AJ's first name was Mike. Imagine the possibilities....TA McClendon on the carry, hit hard by Mike Hawk. Mike Hawk is gonna be an All American this year. No one hits like Mike Hawk.

To each his own but I've never been interested in anyone's autograph unless it came on the bottom of a check :wink2:

And just what the f**k in wrong with a grown man wearing an Ohio State jersey? Hey, while we're at it, why do we waste our time on this board worrying about kids half our age (or younger in my case) if the can win a silly game against other kids their age?

While I would never seek the signature of a person who wasn't even born yet when I already had 10 years service in the military, I wouldn't reject it if he offered either. I will always wear a Buckeye football jersey (with no particular player's name on it) because I love Ohio State football. I don't think doing so is a result of my having "issues".

Hmm - never thought it was 'submissive' to wear a sports jersey - just another way to show your colors. Even if it *does* say Griffin, Doss, or whatever. I've had that 'ol smelly Steelers jersey with Green across the back ever since Mean Joe tossed it to me for that commercial so many years ago. Is that so wrong?

FWIW, I got Tressel's signature last February ('03) at an Alum event in Denver. He was *incredibly* gracious with his time and met and greeted every one of the ~250-300 in attendance. I even got a nice pic with him. At one point, it did feel like we were...I dunno...exploiting?? him, but he took it in stride - he even gave a nice talk after Randy Gradishere introduced him. Anyway, I guess I can see how a grown man 'hounding' a student-athlete (or even recent grad) for an autograph can seem a little - wierd. But looking down on someone who supports his team for wearing a replica jersey? C'mon. :roll1:

fair enough....i guess im the one that is off on the jersey thing......its just strange to me....i had kids ask for my sig before....and thats cool....but i (at 22) thought the guys over a certain age were phony....

of course, nobody ever wore my jersey....except for my girl......

mili...judging from your picture....you would be much better off wearing a white polo shirt without the "arm bands".....that would show your pipes and look great...or if you want to flaunt the guns....get one with the bands and cut them in the back.....
