CBF40's Look at '10 recruiting

crazybuckfan40

Head Coach
I know this is way way way too early, but just putting this out so we can discuss some 2010 prospects...It seems like I have seen some very good ones already...

QB's - Could Ohio really be loaded at the QB position???

Dwight Macon OH - Lots of buzz about this kid being a top national recruit, but haven't seen any film...

Derek Roback OH - He has been called one of the top 10 in the country to watch...Not a whole lot of buzz about him tho other than that...Should be interesting to see if his name continues to pop up...He has nice size for a sophomore...

Aaron Craft OH - He is from a small school, but he is putting up very good numbers, throws a strike for a ball...He is 6'2'' already and if he continues to grow another couple inches he could be a legit d-I QB...If not he could very well be a very good safety, has great instincts...

RB's -
The first two on my list are bonafied studs, top 100 type players. Ohio is loaded at the RB position in 2010'...

Spencer Ware OH - Lots of info out there about Ware being the top prospect in the 10' class...People that have seen him have come away raving about him...

Eric Howard OH - Another one that many have said could be the top RB in the state...He is huge and built like a brick...

Alan Jones OH - Another player from Ursuline with some early interest...Very impressive film...

WR's

DJ Williamson - He is one to keep an eye on...lots of speed and good size for a sophomore.

OL - Couple big names already on the radar...

Seantrel Henderson Minn - Rated in the top 10 for the class of 2010...Word is there is quite a bit of interest here from both sides...Also there has been rumor that he is the #1 target for the 2010 class...

Matt James OH - Already with a verbal offer form Cincy and the big schools are already showing interest...Not a whole lot of info, but one to watch for sure...

Chad Lindsay TX - He won the best offensive lineman at tOSU camp two years ago. Another one to keep an eye on...

DE's - Couple big names already on the radar...

Jamel Turner Ohio - He is only 6'2'' right now, but he has speed off the edge and shows up with reckless abandon...Could be the top player in the state for the 10' class, especially if he grows another 2 or 3 inches...Huge upside here...

William Gholston Mich - Big Vern's cousin...He is already 230 lbs as a sophomore, but with his frame has a lot of room grow...

LB's - How many will we need with 08' class and probably a nice size 09' class with 2 in already...

Zac Rosenbaur OH - He is about the size of a Mike lb at the college level and he is just a sophomore...He very well could out grow the LB position and end up on the dline, but he shows great instincts on the defensive side of the ball...

Jewon Snow OH - He started as a frosh at Canton Mckinley something that not many players have done...

Jordan Hicks OH - From Lakota West, already has an offer from Cincy...

DB's

Andre Givens OH - Very impressive film for just a sophomore...Could play either RB or DB...For sure one to keep an eye on...

Mike Dorsey OH - Another sophomore with impressive film from Ohio...Already has some big schools taking a look at him...Has college ready size right now and still has 2 years of high school football left...

Ray Vinopal OH - Another player from Mooney...He has impressive film and has been called one to watch from Mooney...

Daniel Lambardo OH - Very fast and getting some early attention...

Braylon Heard OH - Another player from Mooney...He was listed as being in the top 100 list...Havent heard the name mentioned anywhere yet...

I would guess Craft plays basketball at the next level.

Honestly I can't say I am familar with many of these names other than the ones that I have on my list, but I will say that Eric Howard at 13 is quite a bit low...

We'll see. He ran for a lot of yards, but his ypc was rather low for a HS player, especially considering Jared Wackerly was a pretty good QB to take the pressure off Howard. He may improve, but considering his size/speed combo, I was expecting a lot more from him. Anyway, it's not like the guys ahead of him are lacking in talent .

Steubenville fans should be very excited about Macon's potential. I saw him play against Youngstown Cardinal Mooney, and he will be a good one. Mooney won the game, but Macon didn't allow his team to give up. I'm sure that he's probably had better games, but I was impressed with what I saw out of him. The 07 Mooney squad will definitely be one of, if not the best team that he'll face at the HS level.

Daniel Lombardo was a first team all combine WR at Schumans National Underclassmen Combine in Columbus last year, and also won the fastest man award in the 40 running a 4.37. He missed most of last year with a cracked bone in his foot that happened during two-a-days, but has recovered nicely and he currently has the third fastest time in the state in the 55 meter dash(6.53).

Don't know how Snow could be ranked ahead of Erick, wasn't Snow injuried all last season. Is the list based on potental? IMO Erick is top 5, he came out strong to start the season then fizzled out during the last few games. Scout.com will have some highlights coming out soon, some nice blend of top end speed and broken tackles. This kid blew up Storm Klein and his defense.

Already time for a little update...

Lambardo be added to the list along with Jewone Snow (a freshmen starter at McKinley doesnt happen very often)...also Braylon Heard, hadn't heard of him, but he is on the top 100 list...Also added Jordan Hicks, LB from La Salle who already has an offer from Cinci...

Also from FVsports a top 100 for 2010...Lot of names that we have to feel good about are top on the list...

2. Seantrel Henderson
6. Jamel Turner
13. Spencer Ware
20. William Gholston
24. Kenny Wilkins - DE PA - listed in the scout database as interest in us...
27. Dwight Macon
36. Eric Howard
43. Mike Dorsey
52. Chris Martin DE Cal - he is listed as interest in us on the scout database, but didnt add him to the list above, just for the sake of it being so early...
56. Matt James
63. Braylon Heard
79. Andre Givens

That is 10 guys right there that you would have to figure with 8 of them being from Ohio, 1 being Big Vern's cousin and 1 being a kid that we are recruiting about as heavily as possible at this point, you would have to feel pretty good about it...

The other thing is that there are a lot of guys from Ohio that have a strong chance to be 5 star guys...

Turner, Ware, Macon, Howard, James have all been mentioned in terms of maybe being the best player in Ohio...
