Cbf40's look at '11 recruiting

Head Coach
I know this is getting a little crazy, but there is already some talk about some 2011 prospects on the board, and I found a link to a list of 2011 prospects, and was curious if some on the board knew anything as one of them is a st.x prospect...

Here is the link to the list I found...

MaxPreps.com

The video has a couple clips of Miller and Golson as well...

We all know it starts with QB Braxton Miller (Wayne)...That link says that his coach wouldn't be surprised if an offer from us isn't far behind the one he received from Cincy...We would be the early favorites for sure...

LB Steven Daniels (St. X) link says he should crack the starting lineup as a sophomore...Doesn't happen very much at st. x...

OL Ryan Schneiber (St. X) in the little part about Daniels it says that Ryan is another good frosh in line at X...Any of you X guys know about these two?

RB Richie Dyer (Moeller) little shifty RB at Moeller

WR AJ Jordan (Trotwood) the link speaks very highly of him...

LB Chris Phillips (Monroeville) He was undefeated last year in wrestling, and ranked very high nationally...That is probably his calling but the link says he could be a very good football player...

RB Quincy Surles (Dunbar) Pretty nice size for a going to be sophomore at 5'10'' 195...The link says that he is a power back...

ATH Shane Wynn (Glenville) He is already hearing Teddy comparisons at his young age...Was a star in the pop warner leagues growing up, and this is one that I have already heard his name quite a bit...Has a couple clips that show his athleticism up on scoutingohio.com

ATH/QB Mikail Seawood (Harding) very solid prospect with a good arm, and good feet, will need work with mechanics, but he almost has college ready size now, and he will just keep growing...Film on scoutingohio.com...

WR Ed Killingsworth (Harding) Really liked what I saw out of him in his video on scoutingohio.com...Actually I was watching Seawood and kept asking myself who is that WR...Then I got to Killingsworth film and realized that it was him...Like worm said once he realizes his potential he can be special...Reminds me of a young Devier Posey...Think he will be fighting out for one of the top spots in the state...

QB Everett Golson (SC) stud in the making...Probably a long shot in terms of our chances...

LB Mark Vargas (RI) Our very own Mark Vargas is one to watch as well...

RIB should definitly be on the "big speed" list.

Defensive player of the year as a freshman on his HS State Championship team. Racks up tackels, TFL and sacks like no one's business. "All over the field" is the term I keep hearing. Needs to have a good Sophmore, Junior and Senior season to really break out recruiting wise.

Keep following the bucks and come back often with your thoughts. I thought you brought good insite to the board.

Work on you speed, strength, and weight during the off season. And let us know how you (and your team) progress through your sophmore campaign.

:oh:

Haha, thanks for the support guys, sophomores very rarely make a big difference on Varsity at my high school, but I'm hoping I can make an impact coming in on defense at times and on special teams. I don't expect to be recruited my any big time schools, but I would like to go to a local FCS school like UMass or Villanova or a lower FBS school like Syracuse or Temple, but in the end I'll go wherever offers me a free education.

Once again thanks for the support, I haven't been posting much lately because of lifting and practice but I can always make time to visit BP.

Here's another nice one to keep an eye on. Last year was his first year playing football, so it's going to be nice to see how he develops. Film link below.

St. Vincent- St. Mary looks to have some nice football prospects in 2011. One of them being Alex Hildebrandt a 6'4" QB. He isn't a statue though. He can move and has a nice arm. Played JV all year IIRC, but got some run on varsity as well. Also suited up for the varsity basketball team.

People around the country know SVSM because Lebron James graduated from there, but they have a great football program. They have 4 state titles in the playoff era, and they are still strong to this day. I do believe that they lost two tough games to Mooney last year, although the regular season loss may have come to Youngstown Ursuline (unless both happened, but I can't remember). Whatever teh case may be, it wouldn't surprise me at all to see their program continue to pump out young prospects.

They have some nice prospects in this years senior class, some I'd expect to go to the MAC while a few won't be paying a dime for college.

The underclasses are really loaded though, simply because of sheer numbers. We're having our largest freshman classes in a while(upwards of 200. For comparison, my starting freshman class in 2002 was 180, and that was the largest at the school in over a decade).

The biggest difference has been linemen. We're finally getting a lot of linemen. Before, we had nice linemen, but not enough to platoon them. This always killed us against Hoban. We've always had the skill position players, but now we're getting the linemen too.

There will definitely be some good players coming out of STVM in the next few years.

Saw his video on the site yesterday and figured since you hadn't started a thread on him that he might not be a big time prospect as you had started them for the other 11' prospects...Really like him on the defensive side...he will have that 1' technique size and looks to have good quickness for that spot as well...One to watch for sure...

Ian's film just got posted. Thanks for the respect though.

Chris Phillips from Monroeville will hopefully be a Buckeye, but it would be for wrestling. His teammate has already commited to tOSU I believe. I saw him several times this year and I don't think he will have the frame to be a DI football player. But, he is an amazing athlete and built like a truck.

Also, I hope he decides not to play football. The school I coach at plays Monroeville every year, and I don't like the idea of him carrying the ball against us.:)

Three other names to keep in mind are Springfield (North and South consolidate this year) linebacker Trey DePreist, Huber Heights Wayne safety Tre Moore, and Dublin Scioto defensive end Jamare Mills.

Hodgepodge, I've been impressed with your lists and Ohio HS FB knowledge. Do you do this for a living or are you a HS coach or something? Just curious.

He will wrestle, no doubt about it. He will likely be the top wrestler in the country his senior year, regardless of weight class. No way he trades the headgear in for a helmet.
